Chapter 10 – an offer that can’t be refused

Random watched the security guards escort the minions to the cells, and the fighters to the medical centre. He glanced back at Anras, was now being held up against the wall with Oblivia's blade millimetres from cutting his throat.

"Oblivia, ease up a little, I can't deal with him if he's going to be pissing his pants out of fear of you every few minutes." Oblivia nodded and sheathed her blade. "Besides... why let you have all the fun?" he asked, cracking his knuckles. Anras paled. "These guys are psychos!" he thought.

Random flipped up his chair and sat down, while Anras was still against the wall. "Now then... how are we going to cover the costs of everything..." Random said thinking aloud as he pulled out a calculator from his pocket. "Lets see... we've got office repairs, medical costs, the deploying of my own personal guards..." Anras gulped again. He was completely broke, and this guy was busy working out the huge bill for the damage he'd caused.

"Oh... and there’s the cost of taking out one of my competitors, and causing me a real headache!" Random finished. Anras sighed. "I'm sure we can work something out..." Random raised his hand, and Anras silenced. "The total bill for everything comes to a very nice sum of 2.5 million dollars." he finished. Anras' jaw dropped. “How much!?” he yelled.

Random smirked. “I take cash, cheques, and all major credit cards.” He lent back in his chair. Anras’ groaned. “And if I can’t pay?” he asked, and quickly got his answer as Oblivia’s sword stopped just before his eye. “Then my bodyguard here has found herself a new training dummy”

Anras went pale. “I can’t pay... ugh!” Anras groaned as Oblivia brought her knee straight into his chest, flooring him, leaving him panting for breath. “Well then... why don’t we do this? Your minions will work for me and help keep things running smoothly, and I’ll give you a chance to win the money by taking the place of the dead fighter.” Anras was trying to pick himself up. Oblivia grabbed his head and pulled his face up so he was starring at Random. “Do we have a deal?” Random asked, starring down at Anras.

Anras nodded quickly, and Oblivia hit him around the back of the head, knocking him out cold. Random stood up and got out his mobile. “It’s me... yes... things have changed a little, but we’re still on track.” He said, signalling to Oblivia, who picked Anras up effortlessly and carried him out of the room. Random focused on the person on the other end of the phone. “By the way... I need you to confirm something for me.” He asked darkly.

Chapter 11 will be the start of the tornament, along with the fights and rules. Fights are going to be determined purely by chance. I have the 14 characters names and I'll randomly draw them until we have a the fights.

Kametsu Kombat Chapter 11 – face your destiny!

Several hours had passed since the battle in Random’s office. The minions had been set to work as waiters, repairmen and some were even manning the video equipment. Random had to admit, they little guys sure were talented. He walked into the main hotel lobby, having just announced the names and the identities of the fighters. To keep headaches to a minimum, he had told the press that the explosion that had occurred in his office was the result of an electrical fault, and that Anras was to be taking the place of the combatant who had sadly died as a result of the blast. Of course, some of the fighters were angry that this new comer has been allowed entry; however, Random told them that, odds were, he wouldn’t even make it past the first round.

As everyone sat down for the celebratory meal before the contest began, Random tapped his glass with his knife and stood up. Everyone turned and faced him.

“Before we begin this, I need to clarify a few things relating to the tournament. Firstly, the fights will be decided completely randomly by a computer. Even I won’t know who’s facing who until I get the call to say the selection process has been completed. Secondly, the matches themselves. There are no limits to how far the battle can and will go. By that, I mean there is no time limit, and any weapon can be used except poisons and any toxins. The watches on your wrists will allow us to monitor your vital signs, and if we have a suspicion that something has been used on a competitor the match is immediately halted and the person responsible will be disqualified.”

Shazi raised her hand. “Question!” she yelled. Random nodded.

“So... how are matches decided then? Is it by the first person on the floor for say 10 seconds?” she asked. Random shook his head

“Not quite, the matches will go on until a person either gives up, or is in a state where he or she can no longer carry on fighting.” He replied.

Reijou Lee raised her hand. “What about killing an opponent?” she asked.

Random smiled darkly. “Killing a foe is allowed too.” He said simply

Koby almost chocked on his drink, as did Prince Marth. “You can’t be serious!” he yelled.

“I can, and am” Random replied. “Upon accepting the invites on the watches, you all agreed to the terms and conditions, I doubt many of you would be willing to take another’s life, however, some of you might be...”

Just then, Random’s phone rang. “Hello?... excellent, yes, please do so!” he quickly put the phone down. “It seems the matches have been decided upon by the computer.” Random clicked a button on the underside of the table, and a match hologram appeared.

“This is how things stand for the first round. As you can see, the winner of the final match between Reishin and Marth will be able to progress straight to the semi-finals. However, please note that this is subject to change.”

“How will that change?” Reishin asked, not really paying to much attention.

“If one of the combatants who makes it through to the second round is unable to fight because of injuries, you will take this place in the second round and fight who-ever was to be their next opponent.”

Prince Marth nodded slowly. “Seems fair I guess” he said.

“Finally, before I forget, the matches will start tomorrow, though at what time I don’t know. Your watches will begin beeping if when a match is going to start and those who are not involved will be able to watch the battles on their watches, or if you’re near a TV, the fight will be streamed across the globe so you can watch that way too, or not at all if you wish.”

Random sat back down. Everyone looked slightly nervous about what was to come. “Well then...” Random began as the chefs emerged with trays filled with food. “I say we all enjoy a good hearty meal before things get started tomorrow.” He raised his glass of champagne “To a grand display!” he said. Everyone raised their glasses to. “To a grand display!” the all said, before they started eating.
