We've Upgraded to IPS 4.1

Lot of people's post gotten to much of a bigger post than necessarily by looking at this and compare the page. I had to put my screen in reading night mode to not burn my eyes and not much of a big headache along with a migraine that I usually get when I go to forums are like these and to me, even then still gives me a headache & migraine and i can't explain why but it does, but no offense, but I hate it.

what ever happen to being smaller post page than to stretch it to the max? prefer basic than the extreme nonsense. Hope it improves later on but post like these gives me more than a headache to past a biiiiig picture to just get to the bottom or next post and there's no auto resizes for pictures.

Other than to much of a "Enter" gap between upper words and words under other words. If you know what I mean

mm

Old site i left up to continue download mega links...VS....New is just to much

It looks clean. Do you plan on having all the boards transparent?

Probably on the boards... but probable not very much if at all on posts because transparency can get hard to read sometimes. I'll just have to see how it turns out. I've gotten the majority of the theme finished but there is a few things I haven't located just yet. IPS makes theme designing a lot harder than it needs to be with their random placement of things.

As for the search not pulling up any results. I believe it has to do with the processes still running in the background.

I could manually make them go through, but that'd cause some severe lag on the server I believe so I'm just letting it finish up in background mode. I could have kept the forum offline for it but I figured we were offline long enough.

Good news is that once the forum finished up it's background processing on posts and such... all the broken posts (download index, etc..) were fixed and seem to be displaying correctly on my end. Let me know if you experience any other issues in this regard. Also check out the CKEditor plugin site and see if there are any pre-made plug-ins we could use. I'll look into re-creating some of the stuff we use to do with custom bb code.

I also changed the editor skin to something a little more polished and less padded.

Ooh just out of curiosity, is BotM still gonna be a thing with the new layout?

I don't know just how we'll handle this just yet. Ang3lOfDarkness did pay for some pre-made themes as well which will be added, but we're having to wait for the developers on those themes to update them to 4.1 as it was literally just released hours before I jumped on the update. I was anxious and we had been waiting weeks for it... so I wanted to get it out of the way. Plus it took a while and I wasn't sure when I'd have almost all day to deal with issues and such again.

I'm currently developing a theme on my own.

Here's a sneak preview:

I'd like to hear some opinions on it.

Well, I don't really like the new theme, as everyone mentioned, MY EYES! I need sunglasses! (We should refer to this as "The EYE Catastrophe"):choler:

That sneak peak looked pretty good though. Hope It saves some EYES.

And I like most of other slight changes. Overall, Good job/luck doing this!

There are things that I think I should mention, The "Status Updates" System took quite a hit in this phenomena! Can't see latest status update on profile wall. and the 'Recent Status Update' link that used to be on the main page disappeared, leaving a simple text behind!

Also, Why CKeditor? As a lousy web developer, I always wanted to test kametsu's editor (I use CKeditor for my own site). It doesn't have that "[A]" Option that lets us to edit the code ourselves. Is there an add-on for it?

Well most people tend to not like the default theme of any software of any version. =P

As for status updates, They still appear on your profile just fine. Click the 'See their activity' button on the right. Then to see just Status Updates, click it on the left.
Here is a direct link to your own: http://kametsu.com/index.php?/profile/40751-aliqandil/&do=content&type=core_statuses_status&change_section=1

As for 'Recent Status Updates' besides the last 5; that is fully possible with the new 'Activity Streams' feature which you can customize and create your own streams. Unfortunately the main Activity Stream seems to be broken (white page) at the moment so we're looking into getting that error fixed.

You might also note that Status Updates can now be 'liked'. Yep it's official, we're turning into FaceBook. =P

As for why CKEditor; that's just what IPS went with going forward. They've opted to do away with BB code and streamline things more. If you want to view your source, there is the source button in the upper left of the editor. You'll notice CKEditor uses straight html. The old system used BB code which then had to be stored and parsed as html; so it's just more efficient this way. The old IPB editor had it's own share of issues though... so it's not like they tossed out a perfect system for something different.

There is nothing in the upper left!

Maybe it's an admin thing. But I can still inject HTML code in it! (With firefox's inspect element for example) But that's quite a hassle!

I'll see if it's something I can turn on for non-admins later.

Hey Koby, do we have any plugins already? If so which ones? Having a look at cke's plugins right now.

Adding the popular ones :D

http://ckeditor.com/addon/colorbutton
http://ckeditor.com/addon/youtube
http://ckeditor.com/addon/autogrow (I'm not entirely sure what this one does but I'd assume it'd fix the bigger picture in the forums someone had posted about)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/imageresize (Same as above I believe but specifically for images)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/videodetector (Detects Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Youtube)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/autosave (Not sure if we already have this)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/autocorrect (We could use this)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/find (Might come in handy)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/bbcode (Lookie Lookie!)
http://ckeditor.com/addon/sourcedialog (Allows you to edit the html source when creating a post.)

Well that was the first 10 pages of most popular. Not a big fan of having to press shift+enter to go down a line. No biggie though. Something we might just have to get used to.
