I normally check reviews/ratings, check what is popular, look for the genre you want to watch, read summary.

Something else that might prove helpful is that you read the names for producers or even the artists for the characters. I look at the names listed on previous animes I liked then with new animes if I see the same person(s) then I give it a shot.

Me too Rangerxmage. I read the description first, watch the first episode and if I like it, watch the whole series.

if its old try choose from reading the Synopsis and decide if it worth your time .for the new ones save up to four episodes and them watch in one go then pick out the best of the new releases that you have watch

I like to read about the anime i'm interested in then if i think that i will like it i then check what other people have said about it and after that decide weather or not to watch it.

hmm, i look first at the artwork, then read a summary of the plot, and if i think ill like it, i watch it. I also look for the creators of the ones i watched before and look for others that they may have done

It depends on really what you are looking for in an anime. Browse My Anime List, read some summaries of series, if you see any that catch your eye; There you go, you have found something you would like to watch

I tend to look for something that has action but is also funny, some animes do that better than others and that's where you pick and choose. It depends on what you're more interested in.

The first thing i look for is the quality of the drawing of the anime, that is always a plus when the quality is up there, then after that i look at what genre, these are my main two.

Just give the description a read and if you like it, give an episode a watch and then just go from there

I usually go with the three episode rule. Watch three episode of something that peaks your interest and go from there. I mean, not every story will appeal to you since you, as an individual, have specific tastes in anime so I guess its about finding an anime that you can totally enjoy.

Me, I go with Deadman Wonderland.

Kinda like a lucky guess. Trial and error. But yea as lloyd998 mentioned, give the first few eps a go. But then there are several animes out there that start out meh but turn out better later on. Generally I look for those around 12 to 26 eps. Personal preference.
