it's good, just very different. If you're going to watch season 2, be sure to watch the OVA's beforehand ... they make all the difference in understanding wtf is going on lol

I know what you mean, I wish I would have known that before I watched it, didn't watch the OVA's till the end. Took me a while to overcome the time gap in the plot line.

The story is a lot different, I did not care to much for the change in the personality of Hei's character, but it is still good. Leaves you wanting to know what happens next.

I just started watching the second season, i did watch one OVA (was like a side story with a minor character?) whats this other one i should watch?

I watched the first episode and kinda hated it, but then the next one got me hooked for the story line.

There are 4 ova's and they fill in the gap between the last season and the new one. If you watch them first it will make it a lot clearer on why he has changed so much.

good to know, as I am just finishing up season 1. SO GOOOD

There is an ova at the end of season 1, but there are 4 that come with season 2. the one at the end of season 1 is just an extra episode that could have been aired at ant time during the original season, the ones in season 2 shows what happens right after season1. when season 2 starts, there is a big time jump between the two, so they fill in the gap.

I don't think you can really compare season 1 and season 2 as a whole. They're completely different styles of story telling for one. I think the only way to really say it is if you want to compare a certain aspect of season 1 versus season 2. Character development or storyline or do you prefer the way the story telling was done in season 1 versus season 2 (which I think most people do and that's why they don't like season 2). I personally like season 2 nearly as much as season 1, but prefer how the anime did it's storytelling in season 1 with many small plots within the large plot that changed every few episodes which led to the main plot. I thought the first few episodes seemed a little weak in season 2 but after that the quality overall of the plot and characters along with everything else was at least on par with season 1 if not a little better (mainly due to development from season 1).

I think both were brilliant. As wake said, you can't really compare them as the pacing and way the story is told is different. Although...Season 2 didn't have nearly enough Guy, so...season 1 wins. XD

I COMPLETELY disagree with this. Watch Season 2 first. You're not supposed to know what's going on. You're supposed to be confused. It puts you greatly in the mindset of the heroine Suoh, who is confused and bewildered by the sudden change in her life and her surroundings.

The OVA's were made after season two to tell the story of hei and yin, and give you a bit of background information. But a lot of what I felt watching season 2 the first time I feel would be ruined had a watched the OVA's first(Not that I could have since they weren't out yet. XD)

I was super scared when i started season 2 because it looked like they where playing a "gundam seed destiny" play (ie starting a second season from the view point of a antagonist, thus making the previous protagonist the new antagonist). So far seems to be working out fine, im only have way through enjoying it quite a bit, although it is not without its flaws.

Imho, it suffers as the similar series that deal with people getting super powers do. You get introduced to people with some ridiculous powers that spoil the fun. The payment is simply there but rarely restrains contractors.

The scenario is also a bit too much with all the destruction of the world and the very simplistic ending. While you get great expectations through the first series, they are not met at some point. I must admit that s1 simply made more sense.

However, s2 gets you to like the heroes. The main characters (Hei, Suo, Mao, July) are very well made and i felt attached to them in the end. I believe that the strongest element of s2 is the relations between the characters and how they evolve. I don't think that anyone will regret watching this - on the contrary, people are going to enjoy watching it.

Season 2 was pretty good but it ended way to quickly. Plus bones decided to leave a crap ton of plotholes. Need a darker than black season 3 pronto.

And wats with all the hate on hei's changed personality. I mean the guys been through alot of crap. Lost his old syndicate team, lost his sister, has no friends. I for one think the change in personality was a welcome addition b/c it gave the character for like and realism.
