some people just like watching a anime that they can easily understand. For instance people want to pay attention to whats happening in the movies/shows not the dialog text at the bottom. though for me this is not really the case as i watch both.

A good example of dubs better than subs would be dragon ball z, though some of the dialog sounds stupid at times, the voices actually fit the characters for me, however the sub version I do not get how goku's voice is so high.

I think a lot has to due with what each individual has gotten use too. I prefer dub, because that is what I started watching it in and I have gotten accustomed to it, But I have watched sub and enjoyed them as well. One thing about sub is their is a larger collection then dub. I just hate watching the same series in dub and sub, I like to remember voices with their characters. It is frustrating when the new season in shows don't come out in dub and you watch it in sub and have to get use to a new voice.

Well to me both are good mainly depends on the anime i watch though but for dub one of the upsides is that you don't have to read which some people appreciate and not focus on the subs and read also some people just like the voices better it all just depends on you and your habbits of reading or taste etc.

it depends on the anime usually, i tend to watch dubs simply because i can't focus on the screen for long enough to read it all, but dubs i can turn away and still get the general idea of what's going on.

i tried watching heltaia subbed and the jokes were to hard to understand in japanese, whereas in english i nearly wet myself in laughter, because i got the jokes, and also the accents were hilarious.

it's dubs for me, i find a lot of characters in japanese have annoying voices, but in english they don't. i dunno where people get the "flat and emotionless" they're just as rich as the subs a lot of the time.

unless they're fandubs, fandubs are terrible

Original language all the way.

Dubbing bastardizes the voices, throws the lip-sync off, and ruins the mood and the tension present in original scenes.

As a language, Japanese moves at a different pace than English. The animators timed the animation to conform to Japanese, not English. As a result it gives dubs the impression of being rushed.

only Japanese dub with sub because original sound better than Eng dub why ? because when people dub Japanese anime with English voices that anime becomes like funny show without emotions in voices maybe some new anime are god Eng dubbed but .......

Not really true. The only one like that was Ghost Story (with the english dub making it seem more funny than the Japanese version). The way you typed that makes it seem like you think all anime that is dubbed is like Ghost Story, but all of the english dubs besides Ghost Story are at least 90% accurate to the original.

The results of the post don't exactly surprise me, given the name of the site and all :P. But yeah, like the majority - I prefer english dubbed. Reading is great and all, but I find having to read subtitles just takes too much away from what's happening on screen. Instead of a subbed anime, I think manga is much better, you can take your time to follow the images and the text.

Well to me it all depends on the type of anime. I enjoy dub of animes whose prime genre is Comedy. I mean it's better to hear the characters say stupid things rather than read them. Again for action animes like Naruto Shippuden or FMA i wouldn't mind seeing the subs. Ofcourse in both cases the sub and dub has to be of acceptable quality.

I think it depends on the anime; some - such as trinity blood - the english acting and voices don't seem to match the character or the acting just isn't good, while others do an at least decent job with the english and I prefer it if it's good, such as with the ghost in the shell series (anime series, NOT the movies - though I don't think the second one was ever english dubbed)
