For action i'd say, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, The Big O, InuYasha, Ruroni Kenshin (sorry if i totally messed up the spelling for that), Fairy Tail, YuYu Hakusho, Flame of Recca and Slayers any one of those would be good

i will say baki the grappler if you're in too near combat action.

or air gear it is pretty good too, if you need to laid back and chill.

Full Metal Panic if you in to big robot.

Fullmetal Panic, Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tal (YES) and i consider HOTD an action anime. Give them all a shot, I particularly like Fairy Tail.

HOTD, One piece, Naruto, Bleach, Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Alchemist, Fairy Tail and Samurai Chaploo, in my opinion these series are also quite good anime but decide for yourself.

Wow, you really can't go wrong with any of the anime listed above.

I'll add; Blue Gender, Deadman Wonderland, Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny and 00, Kurokami, Hunter x Hunter, Tokyo Majin, Requim for the Phantom, Kenichi Histoy's Strongest Disciple!, Shakugan no Shana, Guilty Crown, Accel World, and a new anime show that just aired last week Sword Art Onliine.
