RikuoAmero
Hey, another question for Kametsu. What's the worst kind of computer-related disaster you've ever suffered? Crashes, hard drive failures, etc.I'll start things off. I can remember two incidents. The first was years ago, back when I was on a Pentium 4 Win XP desktop, with no internet access. I put in a Baldur's Gate disc (first game, not BG 2) into the drive, hear a weird noise, eject the drive and somehow, the drive has cracked my disc into pieces. It literally fell apart into four or five pieces. Needless to say, it was a while before I played BG again. The second disaster happened about two or three months ago. I had two 1TB drives, one for video files, and one for programs/disc images. I get home from work one night, and turn on both drives, so I can tidy up the files: put all my media on the video drive etc., takes me a couple of hours. I fall asleep, with the computer left on, and wake up the next morning. I go back onto my video drive, only to find it has popped its clogs, and gone to the Great Computer in the Sky (Skynet ^^). I lost all of my favourite video files, that had taken me months to download. Most painful to lose were the 720p Blu-ray rip of Watchmen, the first 50 odd episodes of Bleach, FMA Brotherhood and oh...about 30 gigs of porn/hentai *cough in embarresment*. Chaos92
Well my brother had a computer and the cord that charge it somehow fried it to the point where no cord could charge it at all so we ended up having to take the hardrive out and making it into a portable hard drive. I felt bad for the waste of a perfectly fine computer.xD

Asch
My worst computer disaster, I bought up a new I/O Xtreme 80GB version, installed it, and OS refused to boot, thought it would be bootloader, failed, recovery also failed, then I thought of rescuing data, failed again, My whole data collected in the duration of 2 years was gone, I don't know what just happened, when I called them, they said it was due to my OS(Mandriva at that time). Well, 80GB didn't worth it after that xD
seirachan
I haven't been owning computers for very long but I did have one problem.I made the mistake of letting my older brother use my computer while I was living with him. That was a mistake I would soon pay dearly for. At first i told him no downloading at all but even before downloading he racked the thing full of viruses and spyware. I told him as long as its safe. Well it turns out my older brother doesn't know wtf safe is. I dunno what sites he was visiting on top of that but he completely ruined it. I thought I'd owe him for the help of giving me a home(the stank and i slept on the couch but a home non the less so i could keep my job) But no he is never touching my computers again. Within a day EVERTHING I had was hacked. World of Warcraft, Youtube, Shitbook(facebook), 2 MSN accounts, and with the 2 MSN accounts locked me out of ever retrieving any old profiles on any site. With Youtube I lost over 50 AMV's I made I can never get back. There was probably more hacked but I've let go of it enough that I don't remember. But luckily I knew someone to fix up my computer, he reformatted and cleared everything for me. But I lost everything on my computer, My most important was my WoW screen shots, A lot of memory's thrown down the drain I really shoulda saved them in photobucket but I had a few private ones with me and my bf talking, my most important ones ><
†ballard
Only one incident comes to mind right now... A few months ago I got a virus in which it made my computer unable to boot into windows (safe mode included)... No blue screen of death, no loading screen... just blackness... I ended up needing to reinstall windows. It was such a pain >.<...

You do have to provide photo id. And as for the AMVs, have you tried simply downloading from the youtube page? What you should do is use Youtube Downloader HD, just pop in the link and download it.EDIT: I just thought of something else. Want to taint whoever hacked your youtube account? Just claim copyright infringement a few times, and Youtube will automatically lock it out. Just make sure you download your videos first! VolvoKing
I had a lighting storm that zapped my comp. It wouldn't start up. So I got another hard drive and put windows on it. It worked fine so I hooked the old hard drive up to retrieve programs and things but I had to enter all the product keys again. That was a problem, some of the programs I downloaded (basically stole) so I didn't have any. So I thought what the heck I hooked up the old hard drive up and it worked. I think the windows on the new one fixed the old one. Now the problem I have is if I have to shut it off to stop it from freezing I have to go in the bios and start it from there. So I try not to shut it off.

Also no photo ID needed I just phoned them.. all 3 times lol. My name is wrong on my account because of my ex so we could transfer my character but i lied and said that it was a real name. Made me sick to the stomach because it's his last name but w/e. They also deleted my youtube account so i can't download any files. I tired looking for the hack help on youtube... but the link didn't work it was really gay. They also went into my Deviant Art account too i almost forgot and deleted SO MUCH art of mine, some ill never see again cause that drawing book was stolen. I don't have the files to upload 300 pictures again it's really not worth the effort to do so much. I asked Dev Team and they can't do anything about it. Deathbliss
I was vacuuming out the fans for the power supply which, unbeknownst to me, had gone bad. I was very careful about static electricity, grounding myself, all of that. But when I plugged in my desktop it fried the motherboard and my processor, in effect destroying my only gaming computer. Things just went downhill from there. But I learned my lesson! GET A SURGE SUPPRESSOR, NOT A POWERSTRIP!- Deathbliss
mushinnoshin
My cousin got an octopus virus, and lost all his data. He had to pay $50 to get it back to working condition, but had no backup of his data T_T
