Shunsuke
I had my computer full of anime all converted into wmv so I could put in on my mp3 player over night it crashed. I tried to reinstall vista and it would start to load it then the computer would say failed or something/ My friend re-installed it for me and he had to use 2 discs, one in the cd drive and the from his usb drive. The whole week at work I only had Dead Space Aftermath and 3 songs. Not the best way to spend 12 hours.
Pandemonium
Worst computer disaster?Well, my first laptop sort of just died one day. Without any warning the screen went completely blank and the power just gave out. Had no idea what caused it, I'm guessing some sort of virus or something. Never bothered checking it out. †Talena Mae
that would have been 1) busted CPU or Hard drive. or 2) Fan. XD
Pandemonium
No, no. The fan worked fine. I'm guessing something to do with the hard drive. Though that wouldn't make much sense either. It shut off while I using it, mhmm.

christoopher24
Well I had an old computer with internet and had no virus protection, and then my computer's background changed to the radioactive sign and then if you clicked on it , it would lead you to buy this fake antivirus, and then I got the blue screen, and it deleted everything on the hard drive. seirachan
Oh I forgot about my moms laptop she got it for free though from her online friend who didn't mean to send it and his address was not send able so mom just blocked him cause he was suspicious and took the laptop. But anywaysthere was a really bad storm going on in the middle of summer, no rain just lightning and wind. I had to shut the window cause the wind was blowing everywhere in the house blowing papers all around. the lightning was so powerful when it flashed I could feel the shock on my body even though it was so far away. I had just downloaded Slikroad or something like that and it wasn't running very well, I just wanted to try it out before I shut it off.I was trying to shut it off before I knew I could just hit the power button on laptops. Then another lightning shock hit and the laptop fried. So after time I figured out that the internet port was fried and the battery. Once the power went out on the battery it was lights out for good. Kyon
When I bought the new BitDefender 2011 on my Vista Home Basic, the software was not compatible or something on it like 2010 was, so whenever I restarted not in safe mode I would Blue Screen. Wasted 50$ on it...Which for some reason added tax to an online purchase to something like a code? Which put me in the negatives in the bank which then costed me another 20 bucks to come out of. It was a total slap to the face.

zx0
When I was younger and a bit less tech savvy I bought a premade PC (something I would NEVER do now!!).I started it up and had a game of Starcraft broodwar, a game not requiring a fantastic computer by any means. My sister walks by and says "do you smell burning??" I look around and smoke is coming out of the pc case, the PSU was smouldering away. After turning the computer off and on again it refused to boot.Needless to say I sent the whole computer back and got a replacement, but our living room stunk for a couple of days! I use free Malwarebytes for scanning but you probably already have something.
Armanition
Hey, another question for Kametsu. What's the worst kind of computer-related disaster you've ever suffered? Crashes, hard drive failures, etc.I'll start things off. I can remember two incidents. The first was years ago, back when I was on a Pentium 4 Win XP desktop, with no internet access. I put in a Baldur's Gate disc (first game, not BG 2) into the drive, hear a weird noise, eject the drive and somehow, the drive has cracked my disc into pieces. It literally fell apart into four or five pieces. Needless to say, it was a while before I played BG again. The second disaster happened about two or three months ago. I had two 1TB drives, one for video files, and one for programs/disc images. I get home from work one night, and turn on both drives, so I can tidy up the files: put all my media on the video drive etc., takes me a couple of hours. I fall asleep, with the computer left on, and wake up the next morning. I go back onto my video drive, only to find it has popped its clogs, and gone to the Great Computer in the Sky (Skynet ^^). I lost all of my favourite video files, that had taken me months to download. Most painful to lose were the 720p Blu-ray rip of Watchmen, the first 50 odd episodes of Bleach, FMA Brotherhood and oh...about 30 gigs of porn/hentai *cough in embarresment*. e.klamm
i've had several viruses back in the day - had to wipe my harddrive several times. however, i always always always burn all my important files to discs at regular intervals (like every 6 months) to prevent a complete loss. i.e. pics, vids, work, save games, etc. so between all these discs i'm ok.ohh... and i once burned out my video card by simply starting my computer. got a power surge and then the screen went black
