† Shazi
I'm curious to know, how big of a serving poeple consider a meal.My idea of a meal is a pretty big one. A staple meal for me (like a sunday roast) wouls be at least 3 potatoes, a handful of vegetables and 5-6 slices of meat.Yesterday, I made myslef a snack, at about four in the afternoon, of nachos: A handfil of doritoes, cheese and salsa and my stepfather (who was in a crappy mood) asked if I was "making my tea", because to him it looked like a meal. Whereas for me, it was decent sized snack. (also he was in a crabby mood and just wanted to have a go at me for something but that's beside the point..)basically to me, a meal is something bigger than your own hand, or one that fills you up just the same. (because some foods are more filling than others.)
gummi-bear-07
Hmm, I stomach a meal bigger than my hand. I eat quite a bit.. well not as much these days.. I barely have a meal a day.
Koby
I don't eat often, lately it's been one meal a day. Like yesterday I only ate two cajun turkey sandwiches. However when I do eat, I usually eat quite a bit. I am trying not to eat as much though. I use to each a whole large pizza in one sitting. Now I eat only about half of it. Nellio
Mmm...you'd better believe I'll be in on any conversation regarding food!My family has always been big eaters, so a "meal" is always big. Lately I've only been eating once a dayish, but it's usually a big meal. It also depends on what the food is, I prefer some foods to others, so I can eat more of certain things.Put it this way, I am CONFIDENT that if I ever went to one of those restaurants where "You eat the entire gigantic steak in an hour your meal is free!" I'd be going home with a free meal. I love meat. Mmm...

spidey5443
Yea, meal is bigger than your hand. When I'm in the mood to eat lots and lots then the meal contains some Biryani, Chicken curries and some sweets. That's how our meal is : D

gummi-bear-07
Atleast now you don't need to listen to them. Eat as much as you need, as long as your healthy. (:

Goldstandard90
Tbh I wouldn't consider a meal smaller than your hand a real meal but a snack, imo. Sounds like a meal for a mouse than a person tbh. I can eat quite a bit when I want to such as a large pizza, but I've really cut down on the eating (economic situation is one factor, but I've been wanting to drop weight as well). As long as you get the food your body needs to function and you're healthy, I really don't think the size portion of the meal really matters, so long as you're getting what you need. angrycarrot
Depends on how you eat i think, as well as what you eat. I have family that are nutritionist and they always get on me for eating certain things as well as portion sizes. Anyway, if you eat fast the longer it takes for your body to digest the meal and the longer your body takes to react to the meal being digested. When you take the time to eat slow you will most likely get full off a smaller meal. ok now my explanation - Ask yourself this: have you ever had a meal but were not quite full so you ate a little more, then slightly after if not an hour later your stomach feels like it has expanded to its maximum and you dont want to move? Thats what happens when you eat to fast and to much. By the time your body has the chance to process whats going on its too late. Ever get sleepy after a meal, same concept, to much to fast. It takes time for your body to adjust so dont go out trying to eat smaller portions and expect over night results. Just like working out you have to build up you stamina, slowly. The problem with people now a days is everyone is go go go. this isnt good for your body when eating._____________________________________________________________________I normally snack throughout the day on small items. Biggest meal i had was yesterday and it was an all day event lol, really it was. A pretty decent sized side salad with three beef ribs and a box of nerds (my guilty pleasure). (because some foods are more filling than others.)I thought you said you were going to eat your stepfather lolBut anyways its rare for me to have a full meal. When I was a kid all I ate was a bowl a noodles a day mostly, sometimes mom made supper but she was working all the time. In highschool I never ate lunch because it was too much to pack and anything I could pack would taste bad. I have a habit of never eating the same thing twice in the row, I still do it. These days I either eat at work(A&W burger restaurant) eat out, or sometimes make food. But I grow sick of the food fast. A lot of the time I just wont eat. If I wanna eat out I ALWAYS have to be with someone. But sometimes no one is around. I can eat more then my hand size considering my hand is TINY. I got a friend with a huge hand and I compare it and it looks kinda funny. It was kinda weird holding hands with him under the water once. Since I didn't know how to swim. But a lot of the time when I eat I need to stop half way and wait awhile. I'll be full up and in 10 minutes I'll be starving again. My stomach just can't handle everything at once I guess. Trend
I once devoured a half a pot of potato soup. (40servings in the pot)but that's a special case. Normally I can go for 2 hamburgers a salad and top it off with dessert, it really depends on the food though. My appetite is sporadic to say the least. Catwoman
I always forget to eat and when I do, it's actually very little. The most I have is maybe a small bowl of cereal and 2 pieces of fruit at lunch. If I skip breakfast or lunch, I have a small dinner like... a small baked potato or something.
