Fact Update...

Today i am going to talk about a region of the brain that is really important to everyday life (most parts are but oh well). Anyways the region i want to talk about is what is known as Broca's Region. Pierre Broca was working with a man who was in a mental hospital but as Broca was working with him he found that the man was a fully functional/normal man the only problem with him was he couldnt talk. As time went on the man died. Broca performed an autopsy and found that the man had damage to a small area on his frontal lobe and as time went along many other people with the same problem were found to have damage in the same area of the frontal lobe of the brain. So in light of this he stated that the area was responsible for speech production and so it became as the spot known as Broca's Region. Anyways when damage is found in this region, the person with it has what is known as Broca's aphasia (aphasia meaning speechless). This is not to be confused with wernicke's area which if damaged causes the incapability to understand speech. Anyways that is a general breakdown of the Broca's region. ^_^

Hope you enjoyed the very belated fact.

Man, at last, i thought the day would never come. I had already visited this dead place to drop a couple of man tears and recall the good old times.

as time went along many other people with the same problem were found to have damage in the same area of the frontal lobe of the brain

that was broca trying to find the specific spot through a method of probes and mistakes ;D

Today I am going to talk about an industrial disaster that occurred in Henderson, Nevada on May 4, 1988 at the Pacific Engineering Production Company of Nevada also known as PEPCON. Basically there was a chemical fire and then a series of explosions which injured 372 people and killed 2, it also caused 100 million dollars of damage. Even some of Las Vegas which is 10 miles away was affected. The fire originated around a drying process structure at the plant. A windstorm had damaged the steel frame with fiberglass walls and also had damaged the roof and employees were using a welding torch to repair it which if you think about it who would ever think that was a good idea? It resulted in causing a fire that spread rapidly in the fiberglass material, which became even faster moving when it came in contact with nearby ammonium perchlorate residue. Which ammonium perchlorate is more simply, the salt of perchloric acid and ammonium hydroxide which to make even easier all it is, is an oxidizer, which dosent mean it is combustible but it does contribute to the combustion of other materials around it. The flames were heading toward big barrels containing the company's product and they tried to stop it with hoses but it was all in vain. The first barrel exploded and many employees made for their escape but 2 ended up being kill by bigger explosions. The fire continued to spread in the stacks of drums creating a large fire and lead to the first of four explosions in the drum storage area. The fire then made its way into the storage area for the filled aluminum shipping containers, resulting in two small explosions there, and a massive explosion about four minutes after the first. Little fuel remained after the explosions which let most of the fire die out except for a fireball that was supplied by the high-pressure natural gas line underneath the plant, which had been ruptured by one of the explosions. That gas line was shut off at about 1:00 p.m. by the gas company at a valve about a mile away. There was 7 explosions in total during the disaster, two of the largest were measured at 3.0 and 3.5 on the Richter scale. About 8 million pounds of the product had exploded, which had created a crater 200ft long and 15ft deep. Another thing to remember is this company makes rocket fuel, so yeah these were not small explosion, especially if you pay close attention to the shockwave.

Anyways there is your fact for the day hope you enjoyed it. :]

Fact update....

Today's fact is about the answer to this question... What is the one thing on earth that is 5x hotter temperatures then the surface of the sun? Lightning is something that we all have seen, but in truth there are so many different types and such, its ridiculous. Lightning moves somewhere around 22,000mph and it can reach temperatures of 30,000 degrees Celsius (the suns surface is only about 6,000 degrees but take in consideration the fact that that is just the surface of the sun because the sun is actually millions of degrees at its core). Fulminology is the study of lightning or so it goes. There are many types of lightning.

- Cloud-to-ground lightning - this one is very common and is one of the more dangerous ones being in the since that it touches the ground.

-Ground-to-cloud lightning - lightning between the ground and a cumulonimbus cloud which goes up basically. It goes up which is known as its leader stroke and on its way down its known as the return stroke. (a lot of the names of them give them sort of away such as ribbon lightning and forked lightning).

- Cloud-to-cloud lightning - this is basically lightning that occurs between two clouds. There is more to this one but it would take up the whole fact itself. : P

- Bead lightning - is rarer and seems to be what seems like broken into portions by the viewer.

Basically then you get into dry lightning which is positive lightning and ball lightning and such. Then there is upper atmospheric lightning which has stuff known as blue jets and sprites and stuff like that. Lightning superheats the air to plasma temperatures along the length of the discharge in a short amount of time which makes gas molecules undergo a rapid increase in pressure which causes expansion outward from the lightning creating a shock wave sound known as thunder.

That is the random fact for the day, hope you enjoyed... :]

You should pace yourself better. I see by the age of the last post that things did not go well. Shoot for fact of the week or even month, or try simpler facts that require less effort to research. Hell people are too lazy to verify so you can just make stuff up;

example:

its a fact that the colony that disappeared from Roanoke island were the first victims of mob retaliation for unpaid protection money. The term whacking comes from the fact that the colonists were killed by being beaten with wooden oars repeatedly until dead.

The closest living relative to man is the chimpanzee. Both man and the apes are patriarchal; that is, the male is the dominant sex in the group. Social life revolves around conflict and conquest. Chimpanzees are known to raid each other's camps and kill enemy chimps-not unlike humans, and sometimes use spears. They will take women and children. Chimpanzees need to eat vegetation and fruit, but will eat meat when it's available. So do Gorillas. Males tend to fight over and pick their females.

An interesting twist to this story is the closest relative to the Chimpanzee is the Bonobo, which looks virtually like it except they are smaller. Bonobos eat only vegetation and fruit and are a matriarchal society. There is no conflict or conquest. Females are predisposed to choose gentle, kind males and live in peace. Life revolves around family. It may be a true statement to say that humans will never have world peace because of the way they are socially made.

forgot to mention the main reason why the bonobos are at peace. Not cause they are matriarchal, but because they are sex maniacs. A bonobo monkey's sex life include all forms of sexual pleasure from mutual masturbation (both hetero and homo) and full blown (pun intended) orgies. They use sex as a social tool, using different positions and forms of it for different social interactions. Like it has been documented that two greeting bonobos will preform fellatio if greeting for the first time, and mutual masturbation if from the same tribe/group.

They do not adhere to monogamy, with matriarchs mating with a plethora of males, giving the greatest mix of genes possible. This is the real reason to their peace, as the make love not war!
