Koby
Resident Evil 6 really seems to be getting back into the horror side of things. From the looks of things a lot of the game will be in the dark with only a flashlight for any kind of lighting to look around. Makes it really easy to suddenly turn and boom. That and shadows on the wall way before you see them actually made it seem like they were already there then you never really knew when they'd actually pop around the corner. Three different set of characters, all having their own stories intertwined. Leon seems to be mostly survivor-horror gameplay, Chris is more action, and the new guy Jake seems like a combination of the two. I never even knew Wesker had any kids, but then I haven't exactly played all of the games fully either. I like the fact that up to 4 people can play at certain points and it seems like it can be co-op at least for the entire game, while not having to focus on it so much. RE5 pretty much required another player the way it was setup. Also really like the fact you can be moving and shoot, or shoot while you're knocked down, or even on the ground. Having various methods of transportation and actions seem like a nice touch and it's good to see zombies make a return on the grand scale of things. Nero D. Ace
RE6 does indeed look to be promising but I got a chance to check out the demo and I gotta say - the only parts that have real potential are the scenes with Leon. The other 2 guys - Chris and whatshisface just make it another generic army shooter. An extended version of Leon's gameplay shows it indeed going back to the style of my favourite RE game - RE4 so I suppose I'll check it out, if only to play the Leon sections. And yes, I am a die hard Leon fanboy.I gotta say I'm really impressed with Capcom this far. Though the new Virgil kind of turned me off in the beginning, as did the new Dante initially, I'm starting to get used to this new style that the developers have created. Actually, the characters still have their charm from the original games so maybe it was a GOOD thing capcom decided to leave this in the hands of a western developer. Not only that, Remember Me looks fan-fucking-tastic. The only reason they get that much hate is because of their DLC practices and if they can work their way past that, they may actually be remembered for being involved with really kick-ass games. nemarious
Added details about World Of Warcraft: Mists Of Pandaria. At the moment the video is only on the IGN official website, it's not up on YouTube yet, or at least not from someone that isn't just a YouTube channel. Or French. nemarious
Wow dude, I missed out on so much shit that happened during Gamescon. This thread is such a relief cuz now I can just look at all the details in one place. Nice job.Thankyou very much.To be honest it's winding down a lot now that it's opened up to the public. Plus considering neither Nintendo or Microsoft attended the event at all - Microsoft have also stated they won't be at TGS either - there wasn't all that much in terms of new announcements aside from Remember Me and the Sony stuff. You could argue Nintendo were kind of there considering Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive.Gamescom works very well for showcasing indie developers but a lot of those games aren't really covered by the media unless they're published by a big company. The same thing happens at TGS and, to a lesser degree, E3.Anyway, there's been a few changes:Added a multi-player trailer for Medal Of Honor: WarfighterWorld Of Warcraft: Mists Of Pandaria now has a video rather than an IGN link

nemarious
There's actually been more stuff at Gamescom than I thought there would be. It's nice that there were some new announcements as well, rather than it just being new trailers - or the same trailers - for stuff that's already been announced. It's weird that Nintendo and Microsoft didn't attend though.I'd imagine Nintendo will be saving most of their stuff until TGS which starts on September 20th as that would be closer to the release of the Wii U. Plus, it'll be in their home region. As I've said before, Microsoft won't be attending that either which seems odd. I would imagine they may have their own event at some point before the end of the year. Finally, I've added some details about a somewhat mech-y game called Strike Suit Zero. At the moment it's a link like World Of Warcraft: Mists Of Pandaria was as IGN haven't got round to putting their latest video (a pre-alpha development diary) onto YouTube yet. It's 1:30am where I live so I'm going to get some sleep and I'll see if they've put the video up in the morning.Take care.
nemarious
I've added bits and pieces for the following:Fable: The Journey - Developer commentary. IGN link, no YouTube version available.Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn - IGN link. An almost completely redone version, no new videos.Injustice: Gods Among Us - Developer commentary. IGN link, no YouTube version available.LEGO The Lord Of The Rings - Gamescom 2012 Trailer - YouTube videoThe Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing - Old trailer, new information. IGN link.Additionally, there's still no YouTube version of the Strike Suit Zero pre-alpha stuff so that remains an IGN link. Sorry for any inconvenience caused, I know how shit IGN is. nemarious
Added videos from Assassin's Creed III: Liberations. Additionally, Fable: The Journey and Injustice: Gods Among us now have YouTube videos rather than IGN links. To be honest guys, it's probably easier for you to just check out the IGN YouTube channel by this point. There's so much more stuff on there that I probably won't be able to fit it in. That's why I've mostly been limiting myself to actual trailers or commentaries but there are gameplay videos on there as well. Some of the stuff on there I haven't got round to putting - and probably won't as my weekend seems to get increasingly busier - includes:007 Legends - Gamescom trailerAssassin's Creed III - Naval Warfare trailerEnd Of Nations - Gamescom trailerFIFA 13 - Gameplay videosKings Bounty: Warriors Of The North - Gamescom 2012 trailerGod Of War: Ascension - Brutal Combat trailerMarvel Heroes - Gamescom trailerMetal Gear Rising: Revengeance - Gamescom 2012 trailerNHL 2013 - Tutorial trailerNi No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch - Gamescom 2012 trailerShadow Company: The Mercenary War - Gamescom 2012 trailerSly Cooper: Thieves In Time - Gamescom 2012 trailerSonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed - Gamescom 2012 trailerSoul Sacrifice - Keiji Inafune InterviewStar Wars 1313 - gameplay trailerWhen VIkings Attack - Gamescom 2012 trailerZombiU - Various gameplay videosSo, yeah. There is still loads of stuff I've not got round to putting in and probably won't get round to putting in. Plus I've just started using my 4th reserved post so I probably won't have room for all those videos anyway. In future I'll reserve more and more posts until I start getting everything in. Next month we have TGS (Tokyo Game Show) and for that I'll try reserving five posts. Until then, I hope you enjoyed and appreciated my coverage of the stuff at Gamescom. nemarious
is anyone else sick of co-op campaigns? I don't want a partner in RE6, sheva AI was shit and human players ruin the mood completely with their infiniter ammo rocket launchers. As someone who doesn't really play multiplayer games (it's pretty much RPG or bust for me aside from the odd sports game) I always welcome a co-op mode just so other people can play if they want. Having said that, forcing a co-op mode is not going to be to the tastes of everyone. I played RE5 but that was with my brother so I don't how much that experience helps me gauge your frustration.I think that forcing a multiplayer mode into a game that doesn't need it is also pretty common, especially when it comes to FPS games. Crysis 1 didn't have anything, then Crysis 2 comes to consoles and, bang, has to have a multiplayer mode that everyone hated. It'll be interesting to see how the multiplayer mode of Crysis 3 goes down with the public.I also loved Soul Calibur IV because it had a great balance of single player modes as well as giving you decent online versus modes - even if the matchmaking was a bit pants. So, I bought Soul Calibur V on launch day anticipating something good and there's fuck all singleplayer and a shit load of multiplayer stuff. Not even any little cutscenes or anything after finishing the arcade mode with characters. Ultimately, after all of that, the thing to remember is that you can't please everyone all of the time... still, I've not met many people that praised the co-op in RE5...
