griver_007
It's good to have you guys again()Well about the downloads, I think I'll go with the cheapest way to do it. Might be a good topic for a poll. However, my concern is that FBI might target Kametsu itself. I hope not.
† Emotional Outlet
A poll might actually not help, since it seems there are a lot of misconceptions floating around (and Koby clearly has little patience for that, haha) regarding the various methods of rebuilding the download section. If people have ideas, they should outline the concept and their reasoning here, rather than vote on a poll with no explanation. That way, it's easier to see more compelling reason to go one way or another rather than thinking, "Well, everyone voted for this... but do they understand what it is?" I could list all pros and cons of a XDCC bot as I have a mini one setup on the IRC for Kametsu. I'm planning on writing a tutorial for all operating systems on how to download from it. rmyd027
SOPA and the other bill weren't passed so wtf why is this happening??? They don't own the net and have no right to do this. They actually do have the right to do it. If megaupload was not complying to DMCA requests to remove copyright material they could arrest them. Also because of them having servers in the US made them in jurisdiction of the FBI.One of the main reasons they were taken down is because of the enourmous profit they were making on copyrighted material and the fact they were promoting downloads of copyrighted material.Sure i have read on many news articles that they side stepped their own laws when doing the arrest by not informing the owners of MU of their charges. But hey, thats just nit-picking.But SOPA and PIPA isnt what allowed them to do this, dont get the wrong idea. From what i understood, now im not taking any law classes mind you so i still might not understand it very well, is SOPA and PIPA will just make it easier for the US to do these things. Also it would allow the US to block IP address' in the States from connecting to any IP address that they feel has Copyright Infringment material. More or less they could theoretically cut you off from what ever they want and just let you view what they want you to view. The MU take down was not them controlling the internet, it was them controlling copyrighted material and exercising their laws. Thats all.

Brad
well there are many sever options, but the best so far are the IX-4236 Orion II or the IBM Blade Center HS22. However they are very expensive so i don't know if it would work.

D.Knight
As far as file hosts go I'd say http://netload.in , http://megashares.com , http://bayfiles.com , and http://refile.net are the top dogs to be using. Someone I know has given me access to their premium accounts for: netload, megashares, hotfile, and sendspace.Other hosts of note are: rapidshare (a lot better than they use to be, removed captcha, less limits etc...mediafire (they are pro fbi so probably not worth it, plus tiny limit of 200 mb per file, but they do allow parallel downloads)hotfiles (was court ordered in the past to give user data out, so I wouldn't recommend them, but yeah)check out this site - http://ifile.it/
scarsreminder80
Welcome back Kametsu! you have been sorely missed!I'm not a guru when it comes to computer software, (I'm more the hardware specialist), But I would deffinately go torrents. I have all of the DragonBall, DragonBall Z, Inuyasha, Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist episodes saved on my HDD. There are all English Dubbed versions and good quality. I also have all of the current english dubbed Bleach and Naruto Shippudden episodes released so far.If you were to start a torrent site I could deffinately do a little research and be an uploader/seeder for you! Anime FTW!!

Strick9
I think that uploaders are the best way to go, but before we go all out with any specific one, someone should do a little research. It would be nice to have a list of the available uploaders with the following information: The country where their servers are located (the US is a no-no. Europe is iffy.) Wait time for free downloads (I don't want to pay if they're going to pull a MU on me.) Wait time between downloads if any Maximum file size if any Maximum parallel downloads Maximum downloads per day (MU gave you 4 for free, unless you cleared their cookies) Lifespan of uploads if little or no activity Any other conditions deemed necessary Also, for security reasons, files can be split into multi-part, password protected RAR or 7z archives with the password only given here in the forum. The various parts can be spread out between different uploaders, so that it would be harder to tell if the uploaded file is some sort of copyrighted material. Rob
It's good to have you guys again()Well about the downloads, I think I'll go with the cheapest way to do it. Might be a good topic for a poll. However, my concern is that FBI might target Kametsu itself. I hope not.The FBI won't be able to do anything to kametsu. No content is hosted on the Kametsu server, thus there's nothing breaking the law here. And why would the FBI go after relatively small sites, when they could just directly target the ones hosting the content that the smaller sites are linking too?As for the way forward, i think torrents would be it. If you're making a private tracker then make it so you have to maintain a certain ratio or your account would get frozen from downloading. This should make people think about seeding more. Maybe make some of the big torrents freeleech so they count towards your seeding but not your downloading.
MangaLove
Has anyone heard about Toei suing Bit Torrent users over One Piece? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-02-07/toei-animation-sues-869-bittorrent-users-over-one-piece The part that caught my eye is the part about "The suit notes that users in a BitTorrent "swarm," is it something like this Kametsu is trying to do? If it decides to go the torrent route.
