Well graphics wise.. the games I've seen the consoles have the lead by far. Though problem is my PC is unable to play some of the high end games being that this PC only has a 1.6 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM.

As far as gameplay, near all PC games I've tried rely on the mouse for everything. It's just point and click. Of course there are games that aren't this way but those are far and in-between and a lot of them are ports of console games.

That said, most console games this generation, especially RPG's have been terrible. They're trying to mix action with turn-based and failing miserably. FF13 was the worst game in the history of all games I've personally had the misery of playing.

Being able to modify games doesn't mean a whole lot to me as I like to play them how they were intended. Even though there were tons of skins and mods for PSOBB when I played it.. I only ever installed one skin.

One of the pros of PC gaming is it's a lot easier to find pirated copies and be able to play them.. while console games require you mod your console which I've never even tried nor would I want to try.

PC's definitely have the best graphics and are far better when playing FPS. The mouse and keyboard combo is always going to be better than a control pad. Consoles on the other hand are only worth it if you mod it and and attach a hard drive with a crap load of games (even better if you have kids), beats paying a ton of money for games. If they were cheaper then I would buy my games, but they are not. Tis' a Shame.

pc gaming is far better. games are cheaper. graphics are 20x more amazing. u can use mods, addons. all consoles are doing is holding gaming back alot.

whats your thoughts on this subject.

You said it, I always advocate PC games because a computer is a Multi functional Device I mean you can also do other things beside gaming. But I'd like to mention some of drawbacks of the computer and advantages of console over it.

  1. Hardware gets outdated very quickly. Maximum life of gaming PC is 3yrs(At least around here)
  2. There are many problems with computer and Hardware so you need to have basic knowledge of computer, I mean they need more maintenance.
  3. Even if Config of a PC is Hi-tech, once you buy a console specs will stay same for years and years.
  4. Games can be hacked and cheating is common occurrence in online gameplay.
  5. Lastly Microsoft Kinect and Playstation Move.

one thing they can do is make a computer. low cost and is upgradeable over time. and some kinda rma system for when it needs repairing.

I do agree with dn_angel000 this thread will probably be 50/50 case. But in the end it would seem like the PC has more advantages than the consoles.

Most next gen games that are released for the ps3 and 360 also get released for the pc but cheaper and the graphics are still about the same.

And it it easier/cheaper to upgrade/repair a PC than it is for a console.

Yes I do do most of my gaming/all on a console but that is cause I am PC gaming deficient, since my friend does all his gaming on a PC I pretty much know how much being a PC gamer is cheaper compared to a console gamer.

A proper gaming pc is always better than a console, no matter what the fanboys say on both sides, that's just how it is, 60fps gaming at high resolutions, games like oblivion and morrowind have user mods, which keep the game alive for years after it's shelflife, the graphics are also better as well, it's undeniable that Pc's with enough money put into them can have hardware much more powerful than a console, just look at the witcher 2 or look at Crysis among other games which have terrible fps issues which are not present in the pc version, even the director of Skyrim, Todd Howard noted the superiority of the Pc over consoles, consoles are simply cheaper and easier to access, hence the reason they're more popular and developers tend to say that Piracy is too big a problem to invest any money into a pc game(something whicn many people can disagree to) So, consoles aren't better, they're just more popular, a sad but true reality.

Personally, I think a PC with a game pad is superior to a Console. It's so much easier to play a FPS with the majority of the extra controls and movement mapped to the left half of a DualShock style game pad while still using a mouse to aim.

But then I still have a tendency to pull out my NES and SNES for some Console gaming goodness.

I will never understand how someone can play a SNES rom on a computer and think it's better. Playing it on the console is 80% of the experience. Now, when it comes to PC vs console gaming, I have to give it to console gaming. It's just my preference. I'm personally not a graphics whore so better graphics on the PC mean nothing to me. I definitely do not like most RPGs either, so that's not a plus on either side. But above all other reasons, the main is that I don't find a mouse or keyboard to be very comfortable or precise either. A controller fits my hands perfectly and comfortably, my thumb is much more precise than my wrist, and I don't have to worry about possibly missing any functions because there aren't enough buttons on a gaming pad. Quite simply, I can more comfortably enjoy a game, and that's the most important thing in gaming.

There was a time when I was a pc gamer, but somewhere along the lines I got tired of having to deal with games not working for whatever reason... Spending hours just to finally get it to run properly. There are so many bad ports now days for the pc which is really unfortunate. What I like about consoles is that you put in the game and it simply... works. No need to install it or fix any problems the developers didn't feel the need to patch before releasing it. (GTA4 for example had horrible memory leaks when it first came out and sometimes the textures wouldn't load and you would be driving around on nothingness XD...) I'm not saying console gaming is perfect, It has its fair share of problems too. Something I miss about pc gaming is that the mouse/keyboard are far superior to a controller for FPS games especially while sniping.

I see it graphics: PC, gamplay: Consoles But the whole thing varies person to person on why they think is better.

I don't see how consoles are holding gaming back at all, without consoles gaming wouldn't be as huge as it now in fact due to all the keygens and illegal games on the internet without consoles gaming would have 1 foot in the grave and the other one on a banana peel.

I don't like playing games on a PC, I hate the keypad + mouse layout. Give me a controller! Plus I would rather spend a couple hundred bucks on a console instead of having to buy upgraded parts and install them, I spend enough money on games I would be broke after upgrading cards and processors every year or 2.

Agree with the bold. I much prefer console over PC gaming, even though I've done PC gaming before I just never really adjusted to the setup, seems all too foreign to me. The irony in this is that I type 74wpm and I have good memory where everything is at on the keyboard without even looking. I've played console games since the age of 3 on an NES and the controller just feels natural, especially in comparison to the keyboard and mouse. One thing I do love about PC gaming is the mods though and the expanded content, if I could have a more stable setup hardware wise with a 360 controller I'd possibly get into PC gaming more.

I agree with the controller too. It's a big reason why I don't like PC games.

I'm used to (and personally prefer) a controller rather than a wonky, unreliable mouse or stiff keys. T_T

You do realize that you can buy controllers for the pc and they are actually cheaper than the ones for consoles? Also you can go online and create your own controllers, costs more but then you can have all your buttons exactly where you want them to be

Consoles. I prefer reliability over price any day. Cheaper doesn't always mean better. Just look at ebay. Would you rather have that 300 dollar camera, or that 1 cent picture of a camera?

An earlier post mentioned that when you put a game into a console it just works, and when you put it into a computer you have to spend hours installing everything and even then you may not have the proper patches or textures installed. PC gaming is annoying and honestly not worth it. I am not a graphics snob, considering my favorite of the consoles is the Wii, so that argument is right out. Can I get my Super Smash Brothers Brawl(LEGALLY) for the PC? I don't believe I can.

And The Mouse and Keyboard is just annoyingly over complicated.

This is true, but then you have to install drivers to get the controllers working, and even then most games(Especially Steam Games) require another script to get the game working properly and even then(In the case of TF2) it is buggy as all hell. Maybe I was doing something wrong(Probably was), but my point still stands.

Computer gaming is honestly more trouble than it's worth. Constantly upgrading the system to run with the latest games, constantly updating patches so your game can work, Unable to play offline, etc, etc, etc.

As I said, I prefer reliability, something Computer gaming does not have.
