Console wars are over - PS3 Wins!

Japanese magazine Famitsu has officially declared that the PlayStation 3 had the best games library in 2010.

Of the 516 games Famitsu reviewed last year, 77 of 103 (75%) PS3 games, 65 of 97 (67%) Xbox 360 titles, and 27 of 43 (62%) Wii games earned at least 30 out of 40 points.

While this may not be the most scientific of methods for declaring a winner of the console war, it does point to Japan's love of the PS3.

Nintendo did edge Sony out in the portable category though, with 58 of 117 (50%) games making the cut, over the PSP's 56 of 130 (43%). Mobile + Japan (or America) = Nintendo.

So, do you agree with this verdict? Personally, I'm not suprised by this. going from what I saw on the forums here, PS3's popularity seems to beat the others hands down. But what do you think?

360 has it's numbers for how many consoles bought thanks to their shitty technology and the dumb asses who continue to buy them. When you go through 3 consoles in one year something should tell your ignorant ass that something is wrong and to stop throwing your money away but no. I have friends who have had over 15 XBOX 360's and if they break they'll just buy another one.

Must be nice to be a retard with more cash than brains.

I on the other hand am as broke as I can be. I have no job and can't seem to find one. If one of my consoles broke I'd be out of a console for a long while. I've never had a console break though, maybe because I don't buy shitty consoles.

I own a PS2, PS3, and Wii atm.

360's are the embodiment of poor building. A friend of mine went through 6 of them last year, all because of different technical faults.

Now, compare that with the PS3, aside from the "Lights of Death" (Yellow and Red), they don't have any major technical issues. I've had a few cases of overheating, but nothing that cleaning out the the dust from the fan doesn't solve

totally agree! xbox is good but the breakages kill its value! my mate dropped a PS3 down the stairs and it still worked lol

but seriously my cousin was so pissed off. he was downloading something and went to get a drink, came back and plastic was actually dripping off the console, it overheated so badly. i mean, WTF?

hmmm....thats odd. I guess I see what the magazine is saying, but I always assumed the winner was the system that sold the most systems. In that case the current winner would be the Wii.

The sales of the Wii have dropped, but it still has a pretty good lead on the other systems. Oh well, to each his own right ^_^

I agree with the thread. Play Heavy Rain then try and pick a game from any other console that had a better story. When it comes to stoy, graphic, and how involved you are in a game PS3 wins 10 times out of 10. All xbox is a device that makes you spend $60 a year for a service thats hardly better then the free PSN. After playing MW2 all the xbox had was more campers, more hackers, and would put you in a match a few seconds faster. Other then that it was match for match with the PSN also the PS3 menu is A LOT better and you can get to things faster on the dashboard.

I haven't even bothered with buying a game for xbox sice Velvet Assassin came out.

If your really going to declare a winner in the console war, I think it should be the PS2. That thing is going on 11 and it's still selling units. Last I looked, the tally was over 151 million. And for the record, I have a Wii... and It's essentially a dedicated Netflix box now... although I do play a couple games everynow and then... My DS tends to get my time. when I'm not online or at work.

Edit: I can't seem to remember where I found that figure... Maybe it's wrong... don't know... will keep looking.

Edit: Bam! found it!

i can understand the PS3 winning in japan over Xbox, but idk if id agree to the PS3 being the best right now. ive herd of Xboxs crashing and getting ROD & other major faults but ive only owned 3 360s since Halo3 came out in 08 i think. and i only got a new Console cuz well i sold my old ones xD. first i had special Ed Halo3 system and i admit that one broke :'( all that broke was its drive that spins the disc. i didnt want to sell it so i just saved up enough to buy a arcade system and that lasted untill the new FF XIII Xbox came out, i sold my arcade system and and got the new FF one and its still going strong, Note: the arcade system was played well over 1000hrs, i had it for over a year & i didn't do much other then gaming and watching anime. mainly all that says is its just luck for ppl who tend to get a Xbox and not have it break on you... my PS3 on the other had has had so many problems that sometimes im scared to even turn it on. what i mean by that is, it freezes on me a lot, its had to rebuild the database over 10times now, Internet browser doesn't work that well, & it gets dusty faster then either my Xbox or Wii does so i clean a lot threw out the month. in a way though i prefer PS3 over Xbox anyday, they both have some of my favorite games on them, i like the online for Xbox a little more then PS3, & lastly i only became a gamer because of the PS1. i use to play the reg NES but i didn't get rly in2 games until my mom bought me and my bro a PS1 and MGS. that was one of the first times i was entranced by a video game. from there on i kept playing games xD in a way i wish all 3 consoles the best and a long life to come, well i wish Nintendo would just remake the Wii but hey i guess ppl rly like it :'(

ps3 is really popular in japan, so its quite obvious.. with this, its good to see that theres been lots of game released in the console recently (the only concern here is the money that you need to spend to the games, even though there is already a ps3 jailbreak in the loose).

im just glad that the ps3 win over this console wars since i also have one.

i dont know anything about x360 and wii since i just cant spend money for 3 different high end consoles today, so i did gamble on the ps3 last year. it's just good that my good little brother is quite delicate on that piece of machine which makes it work fine.

i just hope that i dont get that YLOD thing when i will be the one to play it though.

Your PS3 must be old or pre-owned then(and wasn't taken care of if it was pre-owned). I got a PS3 about a year or two ago and it was pre-owned but it works fine. It is one of the 40GB models that only has two USB ports on it. It has never froze on me. Sometimes, when running the PS3 Media Server to stream to it, it does freeze, but that is it. All I have to do is push the power button, it goes off within a minute or so, and I turn it on. It then runs fine and doesn't have a problem. I have used the PS3 for awhile and even played FFXIII all the way through once and to Chapter 11 2 times. Many people complain about it killing their system, and I had zero problems with it. Many people complain about freezes with Star Ocean: The Last Hope International, I have had zero freezes. It all must depend on luck and how the system is treated. Also, I had my PS3 in a dust-prone area for about a year now and only had to clean it once in the entire time that I owned it. The area where it is, is one area of the house that usually gets loaded with dust within just a single day.

Hell,I still haven't even brought a PS3 or X-Box 360, but my sister had purchased two and both are dead. She sent in the first X-box for repair because it died after 3 days and after it was repaired it died again a couple months later :(

When I do decide to purchase, It will be the PS3

yes my PS3 was used, my friend bought it online so idk how the person who sold it to him treated it, but my friend who i traded my PS3 to for the one i have now treated it good... what i meant by my PS3 freezing a lot was that when im in the systems internet browser and i try to open up more pages it gets overloaded and freezes on me, that or it makes me close all the pages and trys to load the one page i leave open... i have one of the first gen systems, a 80gig with the 4usb ports and memory card slots. i treat all my consoles like gods so i never let anything happen to them seeing how i don't have the money to replace them. as for dust, well idk why mine gets so dusty all the time but i clean my PS3 and 360 about 3 or so times a month just to make sure there clean. i heard about the FFXIII crashing other PS3s as well, and my PS3 played the game fine so did my friend who also owns one. oh and my xbox played FFXIII fine as well lol

Hmm.....Technically, I cannot say myself that PS3 is a winner, although I own one and like it, but it is irrelevant to consider a Japanese magazine's review to declare a clear "winner", to see the sales chart of few months after the release of PS3, XBox 360 was ahead of it in Japan also, never the less the so called my "my country my products" factor is also their, which can by justified by the rulings of Famitsu , in most of their reviews, they don't give rating less then 30 on scale of 40, so that might have increased average rating of PS3 games.

Its simple, who ended as a winner is determined by the Console sales, not its games.

This is actually incorrect. The sales can't be used as an accurate measure due to the X360's RROD that occurs often, making people go out and buy more. As some people have stated, they knew people that bought over 15 in one year due to the RROD. Due to problems like that, the 360 would always have more purchases and therefore get more money, also. Games are a more accurate measure, due to that problem.
