I guess this will be the last BOTM competition until we get the dimensions and whatnot for the new layout. If we can even customize banners, that is.

The new skins seem to be responsive to the users screen resolution, and I like that as it's the way most sites are headed these days so rather than change that to a fixed size I'd rather stick with it. What this means however, is that making random banners will be somewhat more difficult. Reasons for that are that, rather than having one static image with a background that stretches behind it to cover the bigger area in screens that are bigger, with random banners that is impossible because the banners backgrounds will never be the same. So, one of the best ways to counter this, would be to center the banners and make both sides of them fade away slowly, or keep them to the left and make them fade away on the right side. The way to go about this, would mostly depend on the skin in question.

We'll keep doing this.

Size is:

Width: Whatever you want, as long as it's 1020 pixels or less.

Height: 160 pixels

Would look best with both sides fading into transparency (you can do this however you'd like).

For an example (a poorly done example by myself), take a look at the Deviant skin.

How do you get the sides to go transparent? Photoshop CS6. I cant figure it out.

Anyhoo just reply and Ill edit accordingly. Until then heres mine, I tried to match the Deviant theme :3

Eraser is one way, but theres probably better ways.

I just selected the edges and feathered the selection on mine. No idea if that's a good way to do it or not, as I think I frequently demonstrate I just kind of approach this whole thing without much foresight, haha.

@nachu double click the bottom layer to unlock it and you can use eraser and layer masks to make it transparent.

Excellent banner that fits the theme really well. Just if you take a look at it on the forum (refresh, or ctrl+f5 till it loads the banner) you'll notice it'd look a bit better if the far right was a lil more transparent on the end as you can see the straight line border as-is.

I am finally happy with my entry. With this new site upgrade...I have had a harder time, but I think it is all good now. So my entry is set with no more modifications.
