Nero D. Ace
I collected more Pokemon cards than all other cards I collected combined.Seriously, between me, my brother and my sister, we easily have about 2500 cards put away in shoeboxes somewhere, although most of them would be copies.I collected for about 5 or 6 years but not ONCE did I ever find a Pikachu
Koby
I still have my two old decks of this, but I trashed all my cards except for some of my rares including the original print holographic Charizard.I can't even remember how to play the TCG though as I quit pretty much the moment I was introduced to Yu-Gi-Oh! Nero D. Ace
I never knew how to play it. None of us did. We just got in the trend of collecting them since Pokemon was a new thing those days and cards suddenly hit the market and suddenly everyone had some and everyone who didn't have them wanted them.I always read the card description but I could never make head or tail of it. Pokemon cards were the only ones which I, and from the looks of things, everyone in my school collected purely for the artwork.

Pokemon cards were the only ones which I, and from the looks of things, everyone in my school collected purely for the artwork.I remember you could have 1 pokemon on the field, and 5 in your back role at a time. You could only equip one energy card to any of those pokemon per turn however some of their attacks required x-amount of energy cards to perform. Some cost you to have to discard them from the pokemon as well. You and your opponent has six prize cards which were drawn from the top of the deck at the start and placed facedown, you never got to see them. When you defeated one of your opponents pokemon you got to randomly select one of your own prize cards. Once you had drawn them all you won the duel. So essentially you only had to defeat six of your opponents pokemon. What I don't remember was how you were able to switch them out on the field, and shit. Goldstandard90
Honestly wasn't aware this game still existed. I never played but I did collect the cards, about everyone in my school did at one point. I knew how to play from the GBC game but I never actually played with my own personal collection myself but one or two odd times. I got a lot of old school rares and I ended up pulling Charizard the hard way from a pack instead of dumping money into the single card which really felt like a big accomplishment at the time. I think the last card I ever got was a holo (possibly 1st ed?) Lugia from a pack, which is probably sitting in my old binder in the closet with the rest of my pokemon cards. Took a lot of packs to get it. I don't know if it has any value now or not but before I originally got it, it had been worth like $120.
Xanodus
My brother and I have been collecting Pokemon Cards for about 8 years now, and we still are. My brother has a rare card, a Shining Charizard that was given to him by my cousins, as they gave us both of their 2 shoeboxes full of cards My brother was the person who got me into Pokemon in the first place. misdreavus
lol, everyone seems to use shoeboxes for there cards, me too!I still buy them since there are people at my uni who play, so it's not as boring as when you just collect them but have no one to trade with. Minkseru
Here is a surprise for some of you. This game is still very big it maintains a full showing for cities, regionals, states, nationals, and worlds, also from states and up there are even scholarships at times.Tournaments minus prereleases never have a cost, and door prizes of things up to I have seen unopened ds's with games put out there. As for the rules just google pokemon official play A players deck must contain exactly 60 cards a minimum of 1 basic pokemon, and depending on location leagues will even allow everything, but Birthday Pikachu, and ancient mew. Both players shuffle their decks, offer the cut to the opponent, and draw 7 cards. At this point both players check their hand for a basic and place it in their active slot. Both players must check or show no basic pokemon in hand.If a player has at this point no basic and proven so to the opponent they shuffle their hand back into their deck and draw 7 new cards. The opponent if they did have a basic sets their 6 prize cards out and may draw an additional card. You can not pick up any pokemon set to the active or benched spots.Once both players have an active pokemon, and decided on their benched pokemon. One player flips a coin and the other player calls it. If you correct you must go first if wrong the person who flipped does.
†Emotional Outlet
I don't think it should really be surprising that people are still playing the TCG. If people still somehow log into the the otherwise abandoned , I can believe people still play this.Actually playing the game never really interested me, but there's a binder or two of cards back home that probably haven't been cracked open in years. My mother would take us out to various shops in the middle of nowhere to check out their Pokeman card stock--I think she cared more about collecting them than my brother or I did. She got the same way with Beanie Babies, haha.
†Anras Rune
I have a HUGE collection. Got around 600 shineys (and a fare few hundred normal rares along with some very hard to find cards) sitting in my storage area, along with countless energy cards, diamonds and commons. I used to play pretty well as well. But I'm holding on to my cards till the prices go up. Probably sell them in a decade or two... ehehehe
Minkseru
Will say this game does not keep the same price value as Yugioh or Magic, but that is not to be a huge surprise. I still play, and actually help run the local league we have a cool house rule of you may run as many eevee in a deck as you wish but only 4 of any 1 copy.
