idl12
It's the first Suikoden, I hope Part 2 is as good as this one, it easily overshadows some of the earlier final fantasy games, even some of the more recent ones.

Bindy
Mine would have to be Grandia, great games and I was obsessed with Grandia 2 when I got it for PS2 because there were very few copies of the game made for PS2.

astromage
For me its between Pokemon and FF... but i'd have to say "Digimon World" for the PS1 was one of my all time favourite RPG's
jhsd1124000998
My first RPG that I played was Final Fantasy, so I'd have to stick with that. If it hadn't been for Final Fantasy, I would never have been able to play RPGs, since I wouldn't have known about them. Hopefully in the future, I can get my hands on other RPG series out there. kinglighter
Runescape has always been a badly designed online RPG but as of late their standards have risen exceptionally so I'd recommend it to anyone with a few hours and nothing to do. hirosetsuken808
Final Fantasy or The Legend of Zelda. It's one tough choice since both are so good :/
Foetoid
Tales of Symphonia on Gamecube. Easily the best RPG i've ever played. Yes i've finished every 3D FF game (except IX and X-2) and Tales of Symphonia is still better....by far. Its longer, bigger, and has more plot twists than all the FF games combined. I cannot possibly recommend it highly enough. FFX is a close 2nd, as is the Paper Mario series <

tnt
Nutz, I've never played the Genso Suikoden series, so, since you've spoken so highly of it, I'll have to give it a try sometime. For me, though, the Chrono series is the best (I wonder how many of you have played, or even heard of, Radical Dreamers). I loved the plot and how the stories of each game intertwined. I also liked that you had to make choices that would affect how the game turned out. All in all, it is a great series of games.Other favorites include (in order) the Mario RPG's, Star Ocean, and (of course) Final Fantasy.Final Fantasy VIII was my first RPG, the reason I started playing RPG's, and still my favorite of that series. I never did understand why so many people hated it. In my opinion, it was better than VII, which is normally the FF of choice for most people. It had a much more in-depth story line. My favorite part was how complicated the Junctioning system could get.

lordofelemental
man, after reading the 7 pages of this thread.. it's all about final fantasy.. ahaha, anyway.. of course, that would be the expected result.anyway, i can't lie that i like the Final Fantasy Series but i'm not here to rant about it.. Final Fantasy Deserves it's right to be liked by people but i think that not all Final Fantasy's can be called as a 'Fantasy'. by the way it goes, people like it because most of the final fantasy games that are released by square soft and square enix are really on the edge of high definition gaming 'absolute 3d to the edge'.loosing some interest on the Final Fantasy Series, i discovered some really good rpg's out there that really deserves a seat (yeah, i noticed some people here liking the games that i also wanted )I really like Ar Tonelico. It has an amazing story and I love picking between the 3 girls. I can't wait for AT3. well, i was also an avid fan for this series.. it's not that popular but on the rest of the Atelier games release by GUST (AI Project).. the ar tonelico series has an edge.. in terms of story, characters (reyvatails), gameplay and fullfillment in playing the game and of course, some innuendo's in the game Xenosaga was a big favorite of mine, but it ended so that wore off. When it was around though it was definitely my favorite, by far - enough to make my own website about it, which is still around today despite the fact the last part in the series was released already. Sometimes it felt the game should have been a book not a gamei thought that many people would say this but i only read this one person here in this thread.. xenogears is really fantastic, squaresoft way back in 1998 really did good on this one. gameplay, story, that's it! making it's way to be the best in that times (1998), even after namco took over the rights the series still continued as 'xenosaga'. he said that it's a book because i have never seen a game that really looks like a book.. it's narrated and as a player you will probably feel watching the game.. not playing it.Mine is the Genso Suikoden Series. None can put up with it's quality as a saga. The reason why no other can match Genso Suikoden is because all the games have very good plots, a number of very nice characters (unforunatelly you can't have 108 deep characters per game) and the most important thing, that almost no other series have: the games add to each other, building a detailed and rich history to the Suiko universe and creating an intrincated net of relations and references. If you analise each of the games alone you can probably find games equally as good, but as a series there is absolutelly no match.well.. this one is quite popular here, and this game is one in my top 5 list here. especially 2 and 5. considering the lack of graphics in each suikoden game, it can rival most other games with good graphics in terms of its 'plot' i mean the story. completing 108 stars of destiny, making your own castle, and of course some strategy battles. suikoden has it's own seat to have to be called a good rpg.I've never really been a huge RPG fan, but I'm crazy about the Persona series. Persona 3 and 4 are two of my favorite games and have played them both through a few times. The soundtracks for the series are amazing as well.this series was the one that i really liked way back at ps2 era.. Shin Megami Tensei Series. good story (deep, dark, psychological plot and lot's of twist). the gameplay was of course good (especially the social links with woman). From fav. to least fav. Yeah I said Final Fantasy as my least favorite now a days flame me if you want 4. Super Robot Taisenman we feel the same way 'from favorite to least favorite' but it seems that you also said one of the games that i really like.hahaha.. i can't understand japanese and im trying to learn it just too understand this game.. since i was young, i played lot's of these games.. super robot taisen / super robotwars series.. it's not a typical rpg that you can play since it's a strategy / rpg.For me, though, the Chrono series is the best (I wonder how many of you have played, or even heard of, Radical Dreamers). I loved the plot and how the stories of each game intertwined. I also liked that you had to make choices that would affect how the game turned out. All in all, it is a great series of games.i played that too for about 5x already.. especially chrono cross, damn the OST is too good. 'another termina, home marbule, another marbule' even i remebered the musical scores hahaha.. chrono trigger is much more great in terms of story than cross but cross has an edge on both grahpics and music.last is the Tales series, i did not have the chance to play Tales of Symphonia (watching the trailer over and over and i know that i can't play it since i dont own a Wii).. playing Destiny, Destiny 2, Abyss and Legendia.. i would probably vote for Abyss. good story with good twist and good gameplay aside from the 3 tales of destiny's that i've said.
