So, from what i could gather, Warner Bros is in talks with Zak Penn to make a new matrix and he already said on his twitter that it wont be a reboot -

I agree that no one should reboot The Matrix. By all means, set another film in that universe. I'd be interested to see what direction they take it.

Unfortunately, I disagree that no one could reboot The Matrix. Hollywood could, and that makes me sad.

The only way I could see this being good is if they decide to give the movie a larger amount of the cyber punk & mind screwing aspects of the matrix and not the convoluted plot movie that gets too mixed up in it's own philosophy.

According to a report from Birth.Movies.Death., Warner Bros. isn't interested in rebooting the seminal sci-franchise, but instead wants to focus on telling new stories in the Matrix universe. An idea that's gained plenty of traction is a prequel story about a young Morpheus, and the studio reportedly wants to cast Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther) in the role.

Recently the lead writer behind the new film, Zak Penn, took to Twitter to reiterate that he too doesn't want to work on a reboot. Penn is strongly against the idea of recasting Keanu Reeves' character Neo, saying if he "were going to recast Keanu Reeves, I would cast Keanu Reeves."

Well, thats Hollywood for you guys, "Lets take a classic movie and completely destroy it!"  So who is going to play young Morpheus ?  Vin Diesel or Ben Afleck ?   Oh even better, we need a Matrix thats more feminist.  Morpheus is going to be played by Madonna.

They must be running out of new ideas..the movie industry is getting pretty bad...just as long as they dont go through phases again..like early 2000 zombie movies followed by end of the world/natural disaster movies...

9/10 movies are already based on something else tho (whether a book or tv show or comic or stage play or irl event or whatever). What's really sad is that they just want to lift the characters from these already established ideas and create their own original shitstorm wit them. Look at all the recent DC movies, yuck. At least Wonder Woman was a sign of life but everything else? How tf do you ruin Dark Knight returns? By taking the concept of Batman and Superman fighting and making it the whole movie nd ignoring the entirety of the actual story that's how

At least this dude knows the only possible Neo is REEVES

Rather than remaking films, they need to expand on a films universe while paying homage to the original. The problem is, they are trying so hard to live up to the original and create all that hype and bring in more money, that they fall flat on their face because most sequels are so out there and don't hold true to whats going on. It all boils down to capitalizing on the original ideas success, that's why most sequels and remakes are awful, they want to resurrect something just to profit off it if. as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, dont fix it
