Wake
"According to Association of Copyright for Computer Software (ACCS), a 18 year old student was arrested for uploading manga scans to an online storage MEGAUPLOAD. He had been running a private blog "Manga.jp" and sharing the scans with a total of 2.5 million people. There were 3,800 files of 260 titles available on the blog. The uploaded manga include One Piece, Nurarihyon no Mago, Eden no Ori, and Sket Dance.Picture of the seized PCs and disc media from the studentHe collected the manga scans from other online sharing sites and has earned 300,000 yen ($1 = 83 yen) through Amazon Associate program since March 2010."Sources: ACCS, IT MediaThis makes me wonder and a bit worried for other manga sharing people out there. Though this guy was getting payed for what he was doing the and rule kinda is, don't to this for money. Feel bad for him? Or he got what was coming? because he was getting paid for sharing free manga that was not his....
Pinkie Pie
Yes he definitely did have it coming. You don't make people pay for that shit. When you get greedy, you get caught.
Wake
Yes he definitely did have it coming. You don't make people pay for that shit. When you get greedy' date=' you get caught.[/quote']Actually he wasn't making people pay, but he had an account set up so when people downloaded the manga from his site he was getting payed. The users downloading the manga weren't paying form my understanding.
Deschain254
I support file sharing. I do not support people who make money off of it. It's as simple as that.
Vael
thats probably why, the fact that he got an affiliate program goin that was attached to it is probably what gave him awayso yes he did have it comin
lady_kurai
I have to agree there's nothing wrong with sharing files, but when you're getting paid for it then you deserve to get caught and suffer the consequences!
Reiko8
From my point of view he did deserve what he got. For the Scanlation/Anime/Manga community it would be best to stay in low profile because otherwise you attract too much attention leading the a crack down on people. One of his worst moves was the Amazon Associate program he should have never done that.
old-tin
you all say he deserved it but what was the penalty? personaly i would say a slap on the rist and a dresing down would be suficiente for a first offender

I'd like to know how severe the penalty was. Although, his decision was very stupid.
Vael
now that I look back on this story, it really pisses me off, because, he's making money for giving out stuff, where the original creators of the work get nothing
Emarco3
I think that file sharing is OK but he obviously was just doing it to turn a profit. If they didn't deal with him properly they would eventually have to crackdown on manga sharing sites that actually care about the fans.
tapppy123
yeh if the dude was making money hes a douche, he deserves to get what ever he gets
Alegend1994
Yeah he got what he deserved. If the stuff the person is doing is for free then basically there spending their own time to create and share things that they like and want others to know about, with them only receiving satisfaction and helping others as their reward, but obviously the original ideas and work are not there's so making money off this would be wrong. But if you do stuff like this for money then this is just greed, using other people ideas and creativity to make yourself some money.
Shirotora
I'm not sympathetic to this guy. The idea of letting people have free scans is a good one, but the fact that he was getting money to do it sours the sweetness of it. I hope he is not making a big fuss about it because I doubt he'll get any sympathy. Raking in the money was a bad idea.
Xanodus
Look, if he made people pay for it, then that is being greedy, and he is earning money for something he didn't even create- it should be the mangakas earning that money- which means yeah, he definately had it coming to him. On the other hand, if he didn't make people pay for it then that's when I would feel sympathetic for the guy, because there are millions of other people who read manga online or blog it or download it or upload it etc.. And I say that if they did it to him they should start a massive search all over the world to seize everybody else's PC's and stuff.
Reptoholic
Due to the fact that he was making some kind of money is why he got caught. The only one who deserves to make any profit off of it would be the creators. Even though he was not charging for it, he still made something. liogirl
a friend once told me... "you got it for free... you give it for free"... that's all there is to it. if the guy's intention is to 'share' with payment on the side... then that's selling and not free... yah, he have it coming... sooner or later... more like now... being caught and all.
