Kudos to the file server guys. If only I had a living situation in which this such a thing was practical.

The "un"fortunate side is that internet speeds are about to go supernova, coupled with H.265, may significantly decrease the need to ever backup movies, shows, etc. But this might be a good thing.

I have 750GiB on my new laptop. I actually got a pretty good deal. And, I have roughly 128 GiB in flash drives. And two sd cards with 32 GiB each.

 

SO in total, over a TiB.

 

I might need to get an external HD, as I am seeing how fast it can all get used up lul.

For primary storage, I do have the following:

 

2x 4 TB external hard drives in mirror config

2x 3 TB external hard drives also in mirror config for redundancy

14 TB redundant storage total for my primary

 

For extra or 'auxiliary' storage I do have:

 

1 x 2 TB external hard drive

2 x 1 TB external hard drive

4 TB total

 

Right now, I'm being careful not to quickly fill up my primary storage.

 

My internal storage for my laptop would be 2 x 750 GB hard drives.

 

Apart from that, I have several decent capacity (16 GB+) flash drives lying around that I rarely use. I also have several online storage accounts with different providers, though as of now I don't really care much for them as much as I do for my local storage lol.

 

I'm planning on buying the new 5 TB hard drive models as soon as they hit the store shelves later this year or early next year so I can expand my primary storage.

 

I'm preparing to setup a NAS config for my hard drives, though as of yet I haven't yet found a decent NAS box that's cheap enough for what I'm planning.

 

I would also recommend you guys to set-up your own home NAS if you have a lot of separate hard drives you're using at home, although prices for individual NAS boxes can be a significant barrier to entry.

Wow alot of people do have tremendous amounts of HD Space. I  have Seagate 640 GB internal drive in my desktop and 500 Gb Drive in my laptop

Hmmm...I may take the cake here lol....having taken advantage of the most recent black friday offerings and being a total media hoarder of all types...

Let's see connected to my htpc mini (500 gb internal), I've got 11 externals hooked up ranging from 2 tb to 8tb totally...wow doesn't seem like it...almost 40 tb of storage. That's not counting the 3 tb i got connected to my desktop.

Yeah, definitely trying to migrate to NAS but want something capable of being a dedicated server/transcoder with room to grow but way too expensive so that's just a "if i win the lottery" splurge.

So hah! Beat that!

p.s. Yeah, excessive, but a lot of it is research for my dream job of being a screenwriter (or so I tell myself lol)

I have 2x 500gb hdd's.

 

One is for OS and the other is just storage for other stuff. Useful when game is installed on one drive and im using the other one to record games with fraps

My main PC has just over 10TBs in, I have a media centre PC which has another 5TBs in, have a laptop with 1TB in. My main server is 6TBs. And in my other servers in about 2TBs shared across.

I have several 4TB and several 3TB external Western Digital My Books. I like to keep backups as well and I collect ALOT of stuff, so I do in fact use them all.

 

Overall I would say if you put all of my internal and external drives together I have about 44TB of hard drive space.
