Kinda short on time atm of making this post. However, I was wondering which of the Studio Ghibli movies are recommended by the community? I have yet to see them, but I dont know if all of the films are worth watching. Please let me know which films you enjoyed, and, if possible, which release to get for maximum enjoyment lol.

Thanks for reading!

REVO's releases of the Ghibli films are excellent

https://kametsu.com/topic/58289-porco-rosso/#comment-541101 this one was my absolute favorite

Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service and Tales from Earthsea where good too. There's also the Lupin movie Ghibli did which was the bomb. I haven't seen the others yet.

Pretty much all of them are worth watching imo. Of course some stand out more than others... and through the years some of these may have been by Ghibli staff but not actually under the Ghibli label....

[CGi-RMX] Laputa Castle in the Sky (1986) (BD 1080p AC3 FLAC) [26ADBFE5].mkv

[CGi-RMX] Whisper of the Heart (1995) (BD 1080p Hi10 DTS FLAC) [1EF8F501].mkv

These 19 movies here are 194 GB total. Most of these, as signified by the "-RMX" tag have been remuxed by myself to add proper Signs/Songs track for dub viewers including lyrics for the English versions of the songs. As well as removing excessive tracks that weren't English or Japanese. No, I never released my remux editions. You should be fine getting the original release though in terms of best video quality.

I definitely recommend Grave of the Fireflies and Spirited Away as two of my favorites. Ponyo and Totoro are notable too and very child-friendly. Adalee loves Totoro.

While Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Princess Mononoke should be on every any anime fans watch list at some point if they wanna see some classics.

All of them are pretty awesome and I have a lot of the Blu Ray's but Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is a true classic for me and my personal favourite (I even bought the Japanese Blu Ray special and it cost a fortune, just to have the original colour version and not the slightly blue-er version that the UK got), along with Laputa Castle in the Sky, oh and Princess Mononoke, Pom Poko, Porco Rosso, Grave of the fireflies (super sad and worse because it's based on a true story)The Wind Rises, My Neighbour Totoro,.......actually just watch them all, they're all great!

Read the Nausicaa Manga if you get the chance too - epic and you can get it on Amazon too.

Castle in the sky is enchanting. I've never enjoyed Lupin for some reason, although I can say that the film was done well. Basically anything they do is going to have to do with a return to the beautiful nature around us and I can relate to that. That's always been my favorite part about Mononoke and Totoro; the simple past, innocence and adventure in the untouched wilderness, and Mononoke with the "we are destroying the Earth and need to revert our shit" trope.

Personally, I didn't care for Porco Rosso but still, of course, respect it. I guess I just don't care for anime comedy aspects.

Anywho, watching all of it will not be a regret in any way.

On the same topic, what about My Neighbors the Yamadas? Is it any good? It is one of Ghibli movie I don't have and had not been interested in getting it due to it looking very different in comparison to the rest of the library.

@Koby Your list suggests that many of the movies you have uses lossy English audio. Using "original" dubs or just have not updated? I am pretty sure all of the listed ones have lossless English audio available.

It's just what the original release had and I never bothered to source full BDMV's to obtain the lossless English audio or sync them.

Can't say for sure, but most likely it is from CoalGirls (https://coalgirls.wakku.to/)

But I think REVO would be better choice for Nausicaä due to sources used.

I don't normally go in this section but somehow not a single one of you mentioned it:

The Tale of Princess Kaguya, by Isao Takahata, is Studio Ghibli's best movie. Directed by Takahata after a 14 year hiatus following My Neighbors the Yamadas, it's gorgeous, heartbreaking and even got a great dub. One of the rare non-Disney Ghiblis, which is why I think so many people seem to have missed it.

I'd put Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away as tied for second, as I love them both dearly for very different reasons, and I've never watched Grave of the Fireflies so I can't judge it yet (though it will probably be among my top tier).

But Kaguya is Ghibli's best.
