Oblivia
Not sure if there was some similar topic, hopefully not... Well in any case, i was recently really in mood for ranting about cool anime series that had lots more material for sequels, but never saw continuation, and this is what this topic is about, just rant about it! Later i can make an improved list and add your anime series to it, but for now its just rant/scream your heart out thread! I mean really, some lame anime gets sequel after sequel, and they are dropping good anime series constantly, not just in anime, but tv shows as well, for whatever the reasons, i don't care about them and don't want to hear them! *plugs ear holes and yells like a child* Okay, here is the list from me! (in alphabetical order) Bokura ga Ita http://myanimelist.net/anime/1222/Bokura_ga_Ita Btooom! http://myanimelist.net/anime/14345/Btooom! Chihayafuru http://myanimelist.net/anime/10800/Chihayafuru (not sure about this one frankly, but kinda too long has passed Q_Q) Fruits Basket http://myanimelist.net/anime/120/Fruits_Basket Ghost Hunt http://myanimelist.net/anime/1571/Ghost_Hunt (this one ive seen longish time ago but as far as i know, manga was still publishing so there was more material to it x.x) Hakushaku to Yosei http://myanimelist.net/anime/4551/Hakushaku_to_Yousei Inu x Boku SS http://myanimelist.net/anime/11013/Inu_x_Boku_SS (ye, i liked this one, sue me! Though some may judge that it doesnt need continuation, i partly agree, but its my curse, i always want to see more of the stuff i like, especially if i get the feeling it didnt really get wrapped up neatly) Kaichou wa Maid-sama http://myanimelist.net/anime/7054/Kaichou_wa_Maid-sama! *hisses* (so many stuff untold....) Mononoke Hime http://myanimelist.net/anime/164/Mononoke_Hime (okay, i have something to confess, this one is a joke, but only partly, i really DID want to see more! :@) I dont know about Natsume Yuujinchou, but if they dont finish this one ill....send them one hellova angry letter! Pandora Hearts! http://myanimelist.net/anime/5530/Pandora_Hearts (first anime that comes to my mind and one that i watched long ago really but still weep for lack of continuation, though wounds healed partly q.q) Saiunkoku Monogatari http://myanimelist.net/anime/1914/Saiunkoku_Monogatari_2nd_Season Shugo Chara http://myanimelist.net/anime/2923/Shugo_Chara! I am sure i forgot some anime series, but ill add them later... Mind you, not telling you to avoid watching these ones, some of them are really worth watching, even unfinished. Koby
A lot of times it's because the anime was only made to advertise and get people to read the source material, which is often manga. Other times it's simply that they did the first season early on in the source material print and thus ran out of content to continue adapting. In BTOOOM!'s case this is what happened. The rushed through material: 50 chapters in just 12 episodes and now there still isn't even content for another season. I think there is only about 30 new chapters out, because in this case: the manga is only released once a month. In cases like this they can only either wait or make an anime-original season (which is usually not well liked).

Koby
Highschool of the Dead. Deadman Wonderland. Black Lagoon. Is with these the case same as BTOOOM! or are they simply discontinued??? Highschool of the Dead is getting another season apparently, just waiting on more material to adapt. Deadman Wonderland I believe bombed unfortunately and got discontinued as a result. Black Lagoon, I'm not even sure there is anything left? I thought it was well and done with...

LightningEagle7
Add Full Metal Panic to the list. They left off at such horrible place with the 2nd raid... Stuff really hits the fan after in the manga, and honestly the best parts of the story happen later in the series. The Berserk anime ends on a brutal cliffhanger and the ending to the shigurui anime was even more unsatisfying. Liebheart
Arakawa Under The Bridge. And also there's a pretty huge list of anime series that had a very rushed and forced ending because they were unable to keep adapting the manga. Like Trigun for example. rinscewind
Trigun anime was not in line with the manga? I don't read much manga, but sometimes the changes aren't that great when adapting it to anime. What are the major differences in the ending - I mean, is Trigun a totally new story (like the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime as compared to Brotherhood being in line with the original storyline) with most of the overtones being the same, or does it follow the manga until a certain point then deviate? And if the latter, then can the difference be summed up readily? Your response just piquied my interest. Thanks.
