Koby
Sword Art Online had an excellent setup, but some of the worst execution I've ever seen. Reminds me of Highschool of the Dead where episode one was damn near perfect and the rest of the show was utter garbage. Sword Art Online just skipped around and then blast right by instead of exploring and building up things. Episodes 2-7 were basically fluff filler taken for extra side stories and shoved into the anime where it chronologically fit, except it just made things worse. There was no need for the timeskip to happen like it did, it never developed or built up before happening. We never got to explore the mechanics of the game or really ever explored the dungeons or go on any sort of quests. For one thing, look at it this way: The Sword Art Online story ended on episode 14. Take out the fluff of episodes 2-7 and you've basically got 8 episodes of story. The whole SAO storyline could have easily been built upon and lasted the entire season of 24 episodes... but instead the story just skips around, glosses over things and ends abruptly. Then we get tossed Alfheim Online or whatever it was called. That storyline seemed abit more thoughtout and was executed better, but again it was pretty rushed over. Again what could have been fleshed out and done right and been another 24 episode season.... got rushed. It's just not executed well. Log Horizon is a new show that seems to be doing what Sword Art Online missed out on. Only problem is, Log Horizon is taking "too much" time on the build up and thus missing the part that Sword Art Online had, the action. If we had the build up that Log Horizon has with the action that Sword Art Online had, we'd easily have one of the best "stuck in an mmo" anime show or at least one to rival that of .hack//. That's on another note though. .hack// had a great setup, but they just keep redoing the exact same story over and over with a new name and new characters. The story is good, but it's just like the Gundam series... keep rehashing the same things and it gets old. Lets see a new .hack// that focuses more on the battles of the game. If nothing else, lets at least not use the same trope of "being unable to logout". ------------------------------ Anyhow the next season has been announced via a video.. [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F04Zq4sgCm4 Looks like it's some sort of first person shooter game they'll be in....

norgmonster
It's only worth going up until ep 14. After that it hits the fan in a big way. I wonder what season 2 will be like. It looks like a modern day mmorpg with guns from the trailer.

refl3x
I've watched SAO... First half of the season is awesome... But the second half is not as amazing as compared to the first half !! Waiting for the second season! xD
Tamai
Apparently there are some mixed opinions about this anime.I was told by a friend that its first half is good and the rest isn't. I have seen the same opinion in here as well. Having seen only the first german dubbed episodes I still think about buying it on BD, which is not that cheap after all. So I wanted to ask for some advices. Do you think it's worth spending money on this?
Renzo
I liked it. But, there were times when i was left disappointed. So, for me, it's a soiid 7 out 10. It had such great potential, but there were just so many things i felt like they left out that could've been added, or could've been done differently. Sure the final product is still good and am definitely gonna watch it again and... admittedly i downloaded the intro song 'Crossing Field' on my iPod, but that's besides the point! haha. If there were some better planning, i think they could've released a more 'polished' product with a broader, more in depth story, a bigger and more colorful cast of characters. i felt like the the first story arc was kinda rushed. Idk, that's just a couple of my own opinions.
professa X
I liked the series a lot so much that I watched accelworld on just faith. It had great visuals but story sucked. Any who can't wait to see the second season. Also waiting for log horizon dub!

The first half consists of horrible pacing, time skips for no reason, the main character being "awesome" with no explanations whatsoever, no plot buildups, tons of deus ex machinas, ETC. On top of that, near the end, the creators just straight up say "fuck it" and cut off the story to get to the second half. The second half isn't as bad but is still kinda weird with the whole main character's sister wanting to have sex with him deal. The only reason SAO is popular is because it lets anime nerds live out their fantasy of having a waifu that cooks for them and swoons over their 1337 video gaem skillz.

HeavenlyClassic
blehafter watching SAO i read a number of people saying accel world is similarso figured id give it a try myself, but never got around to it.recently i keep running into SAO viewers saying they tried AW and it was quite lackluster so im torn xDprobably wont ever try it. yeah the whole she likes him thing felt really unnecessary, almost pron like :3same for the way the bad guy in the second season is so pervy...was hard to watch man...eww
alphawao
Arrrh Yes time to add my feel....after watching the 1st episode I was thinking yes this is gonna be good...great way to set up the story.....then we had the drama parts which we're ok and it was a bit disturbing with the mummy & daddy thing. The action was solid though and I love the twist at the end of the 1st Arc...but then it was pretty downhill from there with the jump to ALO, it not that I didn't like it...it's just mmmmm weird.
