Ergo Proxy (2006), Erugo Purakushī

Sifi, Futuristic, Supernatural, Cyberpunk, Suspense, Mystery,

In the dome of the future city Romdeau, everything works like clockwork. Each person is given a job, there are robots for companionship, Entourage, and daily tasks, and the number of people in the dome is strictly regulated. The outside world is full of dangers with gases and fumes to where no one is able to survive so the dome keeps them alive and gives them a blue sky. Or is all that a lie? [lib]Re-L Mayor[/lib] is the grand-daughter of the leader of the city, though she feels that everything around her is a joke. One day, a monster called a 'Proxy' escapes from a highly classified area and runs around the city, killing and turning robots against their creators. Re-L meets this proxy and borders on obsession as she tries to figure out what all of it means.

My Thoughts: It's hard to follow at first but I fell in love with the story line and the meanings behind everything that happen. I was second guessing myself every once in a while to figure out what was real and what was all in the mind. So many things about it get turned around and become a mind-fuck (Pardon the language) that most of the times, the end of the episode left me with more questions then answers. I still have many questions about the show that were not answered, or were just half answered. It is a anime that I feel I must watch more then once to grab all of the stuff it's trying to say and little things that might be missed if you are not looking for them. Re-L is still one of the people I am not sure about. The music is hunting and scares me a little. The full Anime is very dark and hard to see lots of things if you do not brighten your screen. All in all, I did like it and would watch it over and over again.

Masane Amaha is a kind hearted single mother of a six year old little girl. When the girl was just born, a attack happen in Tokyo and it killed a mass of people. Now they are returning to Tokyo but something strange is happening to Masane.

My Thoughts: So in Love with this show! Its really not for little kids though. As you can tell from the picture, it is not the most covered up show.

[blue]Samurai Champloo (2004)[/blue], [red]Samurai Chanpurū[/red]

Samurai, Endo period,

In the Edo Period, Jin and Mugen are two Samurai that seem to hate each other without any real reason to why to beat the other up. As soon as they meet Fuu, a girl looking for a samurai that smelled of sunflowers, they have to end up working together to help her find him. Threw there journey, they meet interesting people and get into a lot of battles.

My Thoughts: Well hay all gangsta's!........... Ya.... I am not going to jazz this up for you. Really, I did love the show and the music actually ended up fitting throughout the show even though It takes place in the edo period of Japan. Ya... I know, how the hell would Rap and Hip Hop fit with Edo life style but please trust me when I say it does. Some things in the show does not work for me though, such as some of the characters sound.... sorry to sound racist but..... black. I don't mean it in a bad way but the thought of Japanese white boys talking Gansta is kind of really bothersome to me. It makes me want to smack my head into the wall sometimes. I feel that it happens both in the English and Japanese dubs, though that's my take on it. Jin is pretty much the perfect idea of a Samurai, where as Mugen is the exact opposite, no wonder the two get on each other's nerves. It's interesting when they have to end up working together to help get out of a bad situation since each of them have a idea in how just to do it..... mostly turns out they have to kick some ass in order to do it and I'm sure Mugen is pretty happy for that though Jin does have some of the spot light. As for Fuu..... well, I don't really know what she is supposed to be there for. I guess to help them get to the destination and the reason why they are on there little journey but really, all she does is get herself captured by the bad guys EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! I mean come on, she has a knife, let her pull it out at least once!

The ending is a pain in the butt though, there is nothing there to actually say, oh hey! So this is why it was so impotent to get there. It all goes with the fact that it's the journey that's the main point, not where it's going. I could of actually done without the end, leaving them strolling forever in their quest to find the samurai that smells of sunflowers.

Hand Maid May

Science Fiction, Harem,

Hand Maid May is about a young boy named [lib]Kazuya Saotome[/lib] who dreams of creating a artificial robot that is somewhat humanoid. Right now, the creation is a small squid he calls Ikariya. One of his classmates(and his biggest rival) gives him a disc that has a virus to try to stop Kazuya from creating Ikariya but somehow, this disc opens up a website where he mistakenly orders a robot doll that changes his life forever.

My Thoughts: Its really cute! Its 11 episodes long and I wish there was a manga for it. The feelings between May and Kazuya are true and don't feel like it was just pushed together. The large love triangles that happen keep the story going with a surprising twist at the end. You don't have to watch the last episode because its like a omaki but its fun if you do.

A Little Snow Fairy, Sugar, Chitchana Yukitsukai Shugā

fantasy, comedy, slice of life, drama

A little Snow Fairy, Sugar is about a girl named Saga who lost her mother a little while ago. She tries to keep everything perfect from her time schedule to others ideas of running a business. Suddenly, on a very rainy day, on the way home from meeting her friends she comes across a hungry little fairy sitting on a box in the cold. She takes the fairy home and takes care of her but once the fairy was well, Saga finds out that this fairy will change her life forever.

My Thoughts: It's so cute! I have to say if you love cute little stories and a little comedy, you'll love this. It has aspects of finding yourself, and not growing up to quickly with a small bit of cute magic and fantasy that is within the child's heart. Trust me, even the English dub is rather good.

Those who are Sung, Utawarerumono

Fantasy, Drama, Adventure, Historical Drama,

Utawarerumono is about a man who was found in the forest injured. When he finally awoke, he did not remember anything of his past so the elder healer taking care of him gives him the name Hakuoro. He helped out around the village and then suddenly the elder is killed. [lib]Hakuoro[/lib] is thrust into a war that will change the fate of both the nation, and his life as well as answer some important questions about his past.

My Thoughts: I thought that it was a very beautiful story of love and pain. I fell in love with this story and I think everyone should watch this. Its hard for me to not spoil anything because every little thing can give away the ending. Lets just say that the people there are somewhat furry with ears, tails, and wings. There are people who are like dogs, bunnies, and cats.

Black Blood Brothers, Burakku Buraddo Burazāzu, BBB

Supernatural Fiction, Comedy, Fantasy, Vampires,

Black Blood Brothers is a story about two brothers that decide to go to a special zone in Tokyo so that the youngest brother could have more friends. On the way there, they ran into a group of Kulong Children, Vampires that could turn people into there bloodline by biting them and can turn other vampires as well. Jiro, the oldest, is thrust into a War that was thought to be over a long time ago.

My Thoughts: I love the show. it may be only 12 episodes but I loved almost all of the episodes. A little advice when watching the shows, the first part of the show is Jiro looking back at when he and Alice where together and some of it is kind of out of line. The only problem I have with the episodes, the last one is so much of a cliff hanger that I wish that they did more episodes.

Black Cat, Burakku Kyatto

Action,Drama

Black Cat is a anime about a boy named Train and his new life. Train Heartnet is a young boy that was brought into a secret group of erasers named Chronos. He was given the code number 13 and has it scared on his chest in roman numerals. At the start of the anime, Train meets a young girl about his age named Saya. Saya teaches him what a sweeper is all about and shares her thoughts about guns. Because of this, Train decides to leave Chronos and become a sweeper himself. But one of his old partners doesn't want him to leave and so goes on a rampage himself.

My Thoughts: I liked it a lot. The animation feels much like a opening to a James Bond opening though it has a bit of the same flare as a new-vo in the beginning. And then it cuts that and goes into comic fest with jokes and funny site gags. It has a nice way of taking you into the story line for the drama, then hitting you over the head with a bat continually until it again goes back into Drama mode. The music has many different feels for each scene from the hunting chant whenever Greed (aka Seductive obsessed freak!) to the playful sounds of walking down the street that you normally get for comical affect. I hate that they add Saya only to kill her off in the first 2 to 3 episodes. It's just not far! Once I got into her character, then I'm hurt by how she is no longer there, though they're are flash backs, we don't see much of how she affects Train much. There is a lot of fighting, blood, and a little bit of magic killing poisons that can get you looking the other way but It is one that I would like to watch more of.

Witch Hunter Robin

Mystery, Drama, Magic

Witch Hunter Robin is about a girl with a special power to control fire. She is sent to Japan to join a branch of Witch Hunters that don't kill witches like where she comes from. Instead, they use a strange liquid called the Orbo. Robin Seres most learn how to get along with her new coworkers, especially a man named Amon in order to figure out what the Orbo really is and the truth behind the factory.

My Thoughts: I love the darkness that is in this. I first got into it by accident and it has had me hooked for a while now. one thing though that I don't get is that why they decided not to have Robin and Amon get together though I do know that she is only 15 and hes like 25 or so. English voices are somewhat to be desired, though I think they picked almost the right tone for Robin. Some of the other characters I would of liked a little deeper voice.

Ghost Stories( AKA Ghosts at School), Gakkou no Kaidan

Action, Dark, Supernatural, Drama, Comedy

Ghost Stories fallows a girl and her friends as they dive farther into the spiritual world. The young girl and her brother lost there mother not to long ago and their father decides to move them into their grandmothers house in their mother's home town. They get into the old school house and find a book that their mother had created for taking care of ghosts. In order for them to have a normal life, they have to seal away all the ghosts that are living in the old school house.

My Thoughts: I'm not sure what to think about this much. It is very funny though and keeps me smiling. This is really not for the young because of how perverted it is sometimes and the tangents sometimes seem out of place. They pretty much made a mockery of the show when they created the English Dub so much so that I wanted to pull my hair out! :sweatingbullets: :sweatingbullets: :sweatingbullets:  I have only seen the ADV version of the English Dub. Soul Eater, Soru Ita

Action, Comedy, Dark, Drama

Soul Eater is based around 3 groups of teenagers that attend a school called "Death Weapon Meister Academy", where Meisters and there weapons are taught how to fight evil Souls known as kishin. The reason for gathering 99 kishin souls and one witch soul is to become the weapon of Mr.Shinigami, also known as the Grim Reaper. The Main group of characters are Maka, the daughter of Mr.Shinigami's weapon at the moment and he second Meister at the academy, and Soul, her 'to cool' scythe weapon. The story also circles around [lib]Black Star (a over estactic assassin), his partner Tsubaki (a very skillful assassin weapon), Death the Kid (the child of Shinigami and a perfectionist) and his twin weapons Liz and Patty (Twin Guns that grew up on the street).

My Thoughts: I love the mixture of Goth and comedy that is placed into the show. The show shows the strangths and weaknesses up front so you can see the growth of each character as the story opens up more. I have to say that the intro into the lives gives each person more to grasp and fall in love with. I kept finding myself routing for characters that were more like me then others. That and the english voice of Soul actually is my favorite English voice placed to character!

Though many countless battles both the stupid and the great, can Louie really become a Champion?

5 Centimeters Per Second: a chain of short stories about their distance

Romance, Drama,

Takaki Tōno and Akari Shinohara are best friends until Akari's parents move them away. She keeps writing to Takaki every day. The romance and distance can't keep love apart, could it?

My Thoughts: Its a really really slow story and I somewhat fell asleep a little while watching this. But, Its got beautiful artwork for all the backrounds. If you want something that is visually appealing but not much story then you should watch it but other then that, its rather poetic and slow.

Wallflower, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge

Romance, Comedy, harem, Gothic, drama,

Wallflower is about a girl named Sanako Nagahara who was told long ago that she was ugly by a guy she liked. Because of that, she fell farther and farther into 'darkness.' Her Aunt decided she wanted Sanako to become a lady so she made Sanako go live in her big mansion with four guys and told them to teach her or they would have to pay double rent. But teaching a Gothic, dark child like Sanako to be a graceful, elegant lady really takes its toll.

My Thoughts: This was really good! I loved the Gothic look of the art and the almost real eyes. Its Gothic but also not so Gothic that it would be to much for someone that's not interested in it. The Japanese voices are good and so are English dubs. The Artwork is very crisp and clean.

Midori Days (2004), Midori no Hibi

Romantic Comedy, Drama,

Seiji Sawamura is the toughest person around and he's only in high school. Mostly a rebel, his grades aren't that good and pick fights. He does have a kinder side though in that he always looks out for the weaker students and when someone bullies them, he is always the one to try and step in to help. Many look up to him including Midori Kasugano, a pretty little rich girl who is so shy that she would never approach him let alone tell him how she feels. One day, that gap between them closes when Midori somehow magically becomes Seiji's right hand. Threw it all, can they figure out how to get Midori back to normal or will she be stuck on his hand?

My Thoughts: Ok... first off, this show is not for the little kids. They show way to much boob in this for them, but the story is careful not to turn into to much of a perv contest, though it really does get close. The voices are done rather well in the English, though the yelling every time something goes strange is just annoying (it happens in the subs as well). I can't get over how Midori is acting though, she really lets go of her shyness for some strange reason and I don't understand why. From the very first day she becomes his right hand, she is really out there. I did like the site gags in this one, and the characters personalities aren't that off but most of it is going with stereotypes. Sorry but I do have to say Seiji is a stereotype, the weakling that became strong to help other weaklings, it really is in all shows.

Fruit Baskets, Furuba

Drama, Fantasy, Reverse Harem, Romance, Comedy, Slice of Life

Tohru Honda was a normal living with her mother until a car accident left her a orphan. As she tries to not be a bother to anyone, she tries to go to high school and live on her own in a tent in the back woods. Luckily, she meets Yuki Sohma, a pretty boy of the high school she goes to. Yuki and his cousin, Shigure, take pity on her and have her live with them for a bit. That's when this school girl is thrust into a world of magic and secrets. Turns out the Sohma family has a huge secret. Thirteen of the members are possessed by the spirits of the Chinese Zodiac including the cat. She promises not to tell anyone and starts living with the boys and Kyo, posessed by the Cat. Can she brake the curse and help them all find happiness? And what about her own happiness? And will the Cat and the Rat (Kyo and Yuki) EVER stop fighting?

My Thoughts: I love the cuteness of the story and the characters are rather fun and lively. Tohru reminds me a lot of myself in how she is always looking out for others first and not caring much about what happens to her. I was able to get into the story because of that and think about what I would do in her shoes although I am not a saint like she is. Sadly, the story by itself doesn't hold up at all well, and there is much missing that people need to look at the manga in order to get a complete story. The English Voice actors leave something to be desired, though one or two work out. Animation has some comedy in it and sometimes it brakes the seriousness that needs to be in the scene for us to really understand the suffering of the characters. It might not be the best but it is not bad.

Ouran High School Host Club (2006), Ōran Kōkō Hosuto Kurabu

Romantic Comedy, Drama, reverse Harem, Slice of Life,

Haruhi Fujioka is a very smart student who has just won a scholarship to attend Ouran Academy, a school dedicated for the rather rich and well bred in Bunkyō, Tokyo. Although Haruhi is a commoner, she goes to the school anyway to get to reach her goals but pretty much dressed as a boy with large glasses and her hair cut in a strange fashion. Looking for a quiet place to study, she walks into the 3rd music room and runs into none other then the energetic Host Club who's goal is to be there for any female guest who wishes to be around beautiful company. As she tries to leave, she ends up knocking over a ¥8,000,000 (US$80,000 give or take) vase and ends up having to work for them. After seeing how cool she looked (and some reason still not knowing she was not a he) they dress her up and make her one of there own till she pays it back. After seeing that he is actually a she, they pretty much try to hide that fact as they want her to be there.

My Thoughts: I love this show very much and in both subs and dubs. The Artwork is very well done and the designs, while stylish, give that little hint of fun in the characters. I love how Haruhi is not like most girls thrust into a harem of guys which most girls would probably end up drooling over. She is calm and collected, thinking much about what she is going to say though every once in a while does end up speaking her mind when she really shouldn't making for some fun moments between Tamaki and her and normally ending in one of Tamaki's gloomy corners. I feel rather sad that Mori does not get much screen time, showing in only a few scenes where he makes any sort of impact what so ever to the story. He seems more of a branch for Hunny's cuteness rather then his own person. I still have a hard time not closing my eyes and hearing Edward from Fullmetal Alchemist talking whenever Tamaki starts talking in the English dubs but that might be a problem in that I saw Fullmetal before this. All in all, I actually like this a lot and think we should all watch it.... at least for girls. Men....... I don't think you would like it.

Nerima Daikon Brothers, Oroshitate Myūjikaru Nerima Daikon Burazāzu, Dress-up Musical Nerima Daikon Brothers

Comedy, Musical, Black Comedy,

Hideki, Ichiro, and there cousin Mako live on Hideki's Daikon Farm in the center of Narima. There dream is to build a Rock 'n Roll Dome so that they can play there music. Only problem is that all there money making trials go out the door. Will they ever make it big or will they plummet to the ground all the time?

My Thoughts: For something that's somewhat Poni Poni Poemy like, I actually like this show. The show actually has a plot and though they do take things a bit to far sometimes, the comedy kept me laughing. I don't think I can look at some things in the same way ever again like kimchi... lol. Anyway, its by the same people that gave you Poni Poni Poemy and Excel Saga and so the stuff is out of this world (its actually closer to Excel Saga to be precise.) I wouldn't of even watched it all the way even if it wasn't only 2 episodes. Some may like this stuff but I don't.
