Since most of the anime on TV is censored theyl think its stupid and wont bother to watch it. The ones that do grab their attention they will sooner or later give up on watching it because they missed episodes and dont have the time. This is why they watch other cartoons like spongebob or other shows that dont continue. Companies like 4kids are getting kids into anime at an early age now so those kids will maybe appreciate it a bit more but this also causes people to think that it is childish since it is being shown to kids...the list goes on.Your either into it or your not.just like if your into sports,soap operas or musicals..not every likes it:dhh: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

That’s mostly all they’d come across on Cartoon Network and such if they were flicking through during the day (and even the decent Anime is generally censored/Edited rubbish). Of course, some Anime shows are quite violent and have very deep/serious stories which definitely ain’t for kids. In saying that, I couldn’t see myself suggesting to my drinking buddies that they check out some Anime, haha. I think a couple of episodes of Death Note or Fullmetal Alchemist could sway some older folk (meaning non-teenagers/etc), but in the latter case I’d cringe when any annoying/childish screaming and shouting occurred. In the end though, I couldn’t care less that I don’t share my liking of Anime with my mates. Don’t need anyone to hold my hand watching the stuff, and there are endless Forums out there to discuss Anime in-depth with much more like-minded individuals. At first I would talk about it and they would smile and nod, but slowly they began to ask a few questions the main one being "WTF?!". I have found that with the vast different kinds it's not too hard to find something that all my friends would like, but it always comes down to personal taste. Maybe someone can not stand animated things, cartoons, movies, American, Japanese, doesn't matter. Well then they won't like anime.I've also had a lot of people give me the "OH MI GAWD YOU WATCH THAT PORN!!??!1!" look. Maybe they don't like and/or don't want to watch it because of the negative views people have of the few they might have seen that are heavy in fanservice?? For instance, my mom wants everyone to watch Baliwood (I don't know if I am spelling this right) with her and I do not want to even try it. Foe anime, the dubbing or lack of might alienate some people. You should just try to match the person and the genre together I guess and show them movies rather than series that may take longer to get them hooked. My family ridiculed me when I first got into anime, relentlessly they tried to inform me of me being childish and immature. I did not let it get to me though, as long as I enjoy it that is all that matters. I did end up getting them to watch some though. My mom has got hooked, though she won't admit it, she refers to herself as being "in the closet" about it. I even got my old man to watch a few short series. I have to make sure to to pick something that will fit their personalities. if you know someones tastes, in books or movies, you can find something that they would like in anime.In the end all that matters is that you are happy and satisfied with yourself. This is the first anime forum I have been to, and let me tell you, it is like a breath of fresh air to speak with people who don't look at anime in a negative light. I thank y'all for that. People seem to just not even give it any kind of thought and just say it's stupid because they don't like it. To me that's really immature. I honestly hate 90% of the human population. Most of us on here are fine because we all have these keen interests and agree on a lot of topics and even if we don't agree we wont force it or shun someone because of it.But don't force people to watch it it's just tv shows that are really easy to get for free.
