Daviddaman91
Well I would use Gimp to manipulate the artwork and If you just type in on google signature tutorials you will find a bunch of different ones to teach some of the basics. Gimp:http://www.gimp.org/Ex. Tut:http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs24/f/2007/316/a/7/Gimp_Tutorial__Easy_Sig_by_pikaadvance.pngAlso a good place to get renders is:http://planetrenders.net/
† poetictragedy
I also recommend Gimp and Planet Renders. There are quite a few YouTube videos on creating signatures as well. You can find brushes and textures at Deviant Art.And there are tons of cool fonts at dafont.com.The best part is that it's 100% free. Scott
Yeah I'm going to try GIMP. Would be easier if I could find a guide that explains everything easily and fast because I'm such a lazy bastard...
Koby
Yeah I'm going to try GIMP. Would be easier if I could find a guide that explains everything easily and fast because I'm such a lazy bastard...LOL with Graphic programs you will never find a single guide for everything. It's just too much and always being added to even without adding anything new to the program itself. I personally use Adobe Photoshop for everything. I create avatars, signatures, web layouts, forum skins, etc.. within it. Well the graphic parts anyways for forum skins and web layouts. After I'm done I still got to code everything, which I use notepad to do.Photoshop is way better than Gimp, but it's costly while Gimp is free. My Photoshop I have, is pirated from like 7 years ago, and I've never gotten any of the updates since. I use version 7, but now I think they have like version 13 although it's named something like C5, or something, lol.
† poetictragedy
Photoshop is way better than Gimp, but it's costly while Gimp is free. That's the main reason I don't use Photoshop. I would if I could, but sadly, I have no money. Here are the official tutorials. They'll get you started at least.

Cosette1216
I decided since I have the same question as the original post, I'd just add a reply down here and hope someone reads it. I've been very interested in learning to make things like signatures, or desktop backgrounds..(wallpaper?)... although anytime I've asked someone where to even start----they basically tell me that they could make the signature I wanted. So, no one has quite understood that I don't want to learn just for the sake of making a signature for a forum--- I actually want to learn for much more than that. I do have photoshop...and had tried to go through a few youtube tutorials on making sigs but I haven't really figured it out. I'm willing to put in the time and effort to learn and would appreciate any recommendations of even a book I could buy to give me a start in understanding photoshop....any tips at all would help. I have searched for different guides online but haven't really found what I'm looking for.
† poetictragedy
This website has helped me a lot with learning to use Photoshop. It is mostly signature tutorials, but it also teaches you about all the different tools and tricks you can apply to whatever you're making.
