Mystro69
What do you think is the percentage of american over the age of 18 that are fans of watching anime?
FishamanP
If you limit it to over 18, you probably shave off half of your group.
Aipom93
I have to agree with FishamanP, restricting it to 18+ will drastically decrease your numbers.
nellyhoose
Good question. I would say the average is pretty high. It's gotta be to keep toonami on the air in the us.
Wroth
add a tick right here I would say pretty high, might be higher if they aired something a little better than toonami though... with a better time slot Edited January 10, 2013 by greatwroth
Dark_Angel13
Probably not that many, from the americans I know none of them even know what anime is and when explained to them they just call it cartoons and compare it to actual cartoons. So I'd say probably 15% know what anime is and 5% actually watch it or have seen it
AxelVIII
Sorry Dark, but I'd have to disagree, there are way more of us Americans that know of Anime than you give us credit. I would say atleast 30% know what it is,and 25% watch.
Dark_Angel13
Majority of you still call it cartoons so ner!
ZeroGG
I'd say 40% know what it is and only 10% watch it.
God of Conquest
I bet the numbers where higher when DBZ was airing on toonami then they are now although most people don't know the difference between cartoons and anime. Dark_Angel13
Agreed with God here(never thought Id utter those words lol), DBZ drew in A LOT of viewers, some who I think didn't even know what anime was... again calling it cartoons! j3kyll
Apparently a large number of Americans watch anime. Otherwise, companies like Funimation would not exist.
soulstrong
i would like to think many, but most of my friends are like why do you watch cartoons.. i say they are called anime and have a deeper story than tom and jerry. at that point i loose them.... Radical Ed
bout 40% watch anime and 10% actually know what anime is
cilkel
You'd be surprised at how many americans watch anime. There's a lot of us out there.
psionx
I'd say at-least %30 belive it or not their was a time when dbz was more popular then ameirican idol but that era's long since gone anime is rare on tv but toonami isn't the only anime block syfi,ifc,g4tv and spiketv have all aired it at some point also if you live in an area with comcast cable I thik you can get anime channel on demand and the funimation channel but that was a while back those channels may not exist anymore. not that I care I haven't watched tv in a long time. fleshcut
i would say 70% of people under 30 have seen a anime before. If you look at hulu or netflix anime is always on the main site and just from talking to people they have atleast watched a few eps of random things to see what it is
Nintendon't
0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%Â Animated shows are regarded as kids stuff here and anyone above like 15 that still watches them outside of movies is seen as a weirdo. Tanis
A lot more than you'd think. Toonami was insanely popular.
Nintendon't
Yeah, but the OP means 18+ year old people that are still actively watching it.
