Eternal Sonata (PS3, XBOX360)

One of the most interesting RPGs I’ve played for a while. The game is centred on a world dreamt by famous pianist Frederick Chopin who was ill with tuberculosis it is full of beautiful music. This one is for both 360 and PS3, I played the PS3 version.

It has a very interesting battle system (one I had trouble with because of my PS3 controller being a little broken) where for the first half of the game the player has unlimited time to think about what they intend to do with their turn, so long as they don’t move their character. Which is REALLY handy when it comes to some enemies. The system also takes into account what kind of light the character is standing in, and adjusts their abilities accordingly. It also counts the number of successful attacks chained together to increase the power of special attacks which can make a boss battle end much quicker than originally though.

Quick tip: for the character Viola, the further away you are from an enemy, the more damage her bow will do, keep her far away and causing lots of damage!

The cell shading of Eternal Sonata is beautiful and I recommend you play it if you enjoy pretty RPGs because this is most definitely one of them.

I give it 4 out of 5 triangles
