† Anras Rune
Now I might get a wee bit flamed for this, but these are the three most prominent rpgs released on most platforms. They are the most well known series of the modern console age, so give me you opinions...which is the best? If you don't agree with these three then post your choice and your opinion, but please vote nonetheless. Remember, it must be quite recent, a fantasy RPG and released on most platforms (basically everything other than Wii). Also, none of the games series' that have their own subforum on the site.Looking forward to seeing folks opinions on this! ^.^
lemmingllama
I would say that the Elder Scrolls franchise is the best RPG series for the past little while. Awesome landscapes, great plotlines and subplotlines, the ability to completely ignore the main quest, and great graphics all go to let this series win. Another point is that the Elder Scrolls has the best modding community out of any other game series in existance. Finally, the Elder Scrolls gives you the most hours of gameplay out of any of these. So all in all I would say that the Elder Scrolls are superior.
the man773
Dragon Age was fun but I haven't played enough of the first one to form an opinion of it, Dragon Age 2 was pretty bad but I'm not going to judge the franchise on only one title. Never played the first Fable and I hear great things about it, the third one was fun until I went back to start a new character, the repetition was too much for me. Elder Scrolls is three times as open as the other titles and encourages you to make your own fun and follow your own path. I've had hours and hours of fun playing Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. My vote goes to Elder Scrolls.

Koby
The Wii is the #1 RPG console of this generation. Last generation the PS2 dominated. Arc Rise: Fantasia is awesome and only for the Wii. Same with XenoBlade.
BLXCK STAR
I like all three RPG listed but I did enjoy Elder Scrolls more this year but if they would have done something different in DragonAge 2 I might have enjoyed it more. It felt like it missed something.
Ripcat
Fable 2-3 aren't as good as the first which is sad, so id have to go with the elder scrolls although im only judging off skyrim cause never got the chance to play the previous games. Arc Rise: Fantasia is awesome and only for the Wii. Same with XenoBlade.you see, i've been told this many a time, but i just don't see it. Wii has a few yeah, but the three mentioned above arent on the wii, as far as i know. All the wii rpgs i've seen are old school style (and from my experience, badly done old school style) rpg. Often turn based. I may be wrong as i rarely play the wii, but imo rpg has evolved past the turn based era, being more open ended and immersive. What most of the RPG's for 360 and PS3 are is actually action-RPG hybrids, or an offline/online MMO RPG hybrid. They aren't true standard console RPG's, which the Wii has. About the only one the 360 has is Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and Eternal Sonata. You may think they're terrible because they rely on the tride and true RPG method, but for the exact same reason I find games like FF13 terrible because they're trying to form hybrids which lack any form of gameplay. I know the three mentioned in this thread aren't that way though, they're more the offline/online MMO-RPG hybrid type I speak of. I'd take turn-based any day over the garbage the FF series has been turned into.
Bigfella
Fable, thet keep alot of the RPG elemnts out of it, making a nice action-adventure/rpg
Xanodus
Definately the Elder Scrolls series. Skyrim is amazing! The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is amazing, I love the feeling when you complete a quest and you move onto the next level. Great game. vap0re0n
.....Dragon AgeStory DA > TES > FableGraphics DA > TES > Fable Have you seen DA2 mage's in action ? Gameplay TES >= DA > Fable ; I guess TES wins in this.. but sometimes theres just so many options, it's overwhelming..Although I am a big supporter of BioWare.. so I could be a bit biased .. Shmaw
Personal opinion, Fable shouldn't be up there. Also The Elder Scrolls series wins, though dragon age is close second.
kjbulotano
it'll be the elder scrolls for me. dragon age: origins was a great game too.
Shinigami King
I gotta say Fable, but the 3 was crappy, there's no horns, and to think I slaughtered every town 5 times to gain them. lol, in my opinion 2 was greater than The Lost Chapters, but that could be because of the major lag/annoyingly slow landscape loads, like you be walking on air for the entire time it took to cross the bridge to Bowerstone, but the lag isn't as bad on the 360 as it was on the Xbox. svill
I prefer Dragon Age: Origins over the other two series.Skyrim (only TES game I've played) is an alright game but I hate the fact how Bethesda gets off scot free with their messy releases (bugs, gamebreaking glitches) yet still win "Studio of the Year" and "Game of the Year" rewards.I don't really like the Fable series to be honest. I did play through Fable II but I can't say that it was a memorable and enjoyable experience.
