::Effort:: and Ideas to Jumpstart Forum Activity

Like how you have sticky's for "a complete guide to roleplaying", if I were to put all the information under one single thread I think it would get lost in translation. I am going to be compiling information on multiple topics just for the purpose of a roleplaying reference, so that people can look at accurate information before they start writing their roleplay. My thought was possibly adding a section like the lounge, sign-ups, graveyard, RP-Topic-helper. My worry is it will all get moved to the bottom of a pile, or if you're posting on a single thread it would be hard to find certain information. If that makes sense? lolz

Edit: I could see how you might not want to do it yet, but when I start posting information and the section gets crowded, would you be able to move the information I posted to something like the suggested idea above?

I think what noato means is like the information database sections on some rp forums. Basically, whenever a subject is broached in a sign up or an rp someone does the research on it and explains it in a thread. He would then post it in this RP Information (or whatever) and it gives RPers a referance on information in their chosen RPs and/or a few other things.

Think of it as a little wikia added for the RPs kinda. I think backstory would be added to here as well, and maybe even character profiles. It all depends on what it gets used for, and how many folks help.

perhaps a 'kametsu anime of the month' or something similar, an anime (not mainstream?) that everyone on the forum tries to watch and discuss.

actually...thats a pretty awesome idea...^-^

it would certainly be interesting, as most people rarely watch outside of a small set of anime...like naruto fans (*sighs*) and the other big three...

I, for one, is all for this! I think it would be a cool little addition. Tis pretty similar to what koby mentioned at the beginning as well

I wouldn't know of a sure fire method to pump up forum activity, I will admit this forum is different from others I have been apart of. The details about this place is what keeps me coming back, I would other wise only log on to see the download section. I have been making non-sense threads, that I only thought of making just because I was thinking about it at the time. Though from what I observe most people spend time in the downloads area and most people who join are only interested in that area. Maybe set up a required amount of log in time or posts to access it, or set a limit of downloads a person can get within a day.

My suggestion isn't totally serious, I'm just throwing it out there, since I've joined I've been inactively active, I would be on but only in the areas that catch my interests. In the short time I've been here my only intention was to get eng dubs of naruto ship, but I've also made 300+ posts and 50+ threads even though I joined on a whim.

Also the fiasco involving the CB, when I read about it instead of making new threads and whatever I decided to post on older ones, that new people might never see, though there is so many I decided not to continue with it.

An anime of the month section is a great idea. It would get me into different anime genres and sometimes when I'm watching an anime I sometimes want to talk about it and this will probably create more posts and a wider opinion on that certain anime, if everyone has a common anime to watch.

Actually I created a thread for december, but it has gotten almost no views or replies.

ETA: Forum superlatives? I know the idea was tossed up earlier once upon a time. We could give people little buttons or fancy signatures or something denoting that they won the title.

Oh, Koby, you know can always rely on me to be unreliable in my comings and goings on this forum. My eternal struggle with the Air Force leeches my free time and what little free time I find, I spend in an unmotivated lump on the couch.

However, with my enlistment coming to a close in the summer, I'm willing to extend my services in the few ways I am able. Cleaning up topics, compiling rules and regulations (the roleplay forum could stand some o' that), attempting to bolster activity in my typical fashion, submitting writing, and generally being present. Anime holds no space in my heart, so I can't offer much in that respect.

I've posted the successor to the previous cafe RPs, which were fairly popular in the olden days if I recall correctly, in my paltry attempt to bring some activity to the RP forum.

Holy shit it's EO.

Happy Holidays. Good to see you're alive and well.

Sure, I'm more than willing to take you up on that offer. I just got back from the deer lease myself so got plenty I need to take care of now that I'm back home.

Let me know what position you'd think you'd prefer and I'll take care of.

I think some of the "whats your favourite 'X' threads need culling, and a few others of that nature. I mean, you can only answer them once for most of the time and are usually just a dumping ground for people looking to get enough posts to access the DLL section. Because they are always near the top, other threads are pushed down and die.

Just a though as some of these threads are getting rather stagnant. Or maybe just delete them and start anew? Anything to give more topical threads a turn.

I've actually been thinking the same thing. Though rather than delete them and dissallow such threads I've thought about creating a Favorites & Versus board where all such threads could go and postcount be disabled for that section or at least not be able to be posted in by those looking to post boost for downloads until they hit the 15 post requirement. Haven't really decided on how to handle that so any ideas or preferences would be nice if stated.
