Attention citizens of the world,

We wish to get your attention, hoping you heed the warnings as follows:

Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed. If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of information then join the cause and kill facebook for the sake of your own privacy.

Facebook has been selling information to government agencies and giving clandestine access to information security firms so that they can spy on people from all around the world. Some of these so-called whitehat infosec firms are working for authoritarian governments, such as those of Egypt and Syria.

Everything you do on Facebook stays on Facebook regardless of your "privacy" settings, and deleting your account is impossible, even if you "delete" your account, all your personal info stays on Facebook and can be recovered at any time. Changing the privacy settings to make your Facebook account more "private" is also a delusion. Facebook knows more about you than your family. http://www.physorg.com/news170614271.html http://itgrunts.com/2010/10/07/facebook-steals-numbers-and-data-from-your-iphone

You cannot hide from the reality in which you, the people of the internet, live in. Facebook is the opposite of the Antisec cause. You are not safe from them nor from any government. One day you will look back on this and realise what we have done here is right, you will thank the rulers of the internet, we are not harming you but saving you.

The riots are underway. It is not a battle over the future of privacy and publicity. It is a battle for choice and informed consent. It's unfolding because people are being raped, tickled, molested, and confused into doing things where they don't understand the consequences. Facebook keeps saying that it gives users choices, but that is completely false. It gives users the illusion of and hides the details away from them "for their own good" while they then make millions off of you. When a service is "free," it really means they're making money off of you and your information.

Think for a while and prepare for a day that will go down in history. November 5 2011, #opfacebook . Engaged.

This is our world now. We exist without nationality, without religious bias. We have the right to not be surveilled, not be stalked, and not be used for profit. We have the right to not live as slaves.

We are anonymous

We are legion

We do not forgive

We do not forget

Expect us

Simple solution is to just not use FaceBook.

I don't have an account and never will. =P

If people want to share their information or take that risk without even thinking it through first, well...

I'm always careful with what information I put on any website. Always. I control what is said or given.

So at the end of it all, I can only blame myself if something goes wrong.

Well I guess all my suspicions were right, after I learnt about face-books face-recognition software i knew it was the end of our so called illusions of privacy and freedom are finally being shown out.

lol i wanted to see the original vid with this message but it was already taken down!

The video is playing just fine.

Well, the only response I have to this is that maybe these anonymous fellas have seen a tad bit too much of

Well regardless of what they might have seen what they say is true, and who knows this might just be the icing on the cake on our so called freedom.

Honestly, I'm not that bothered by loss of privacy (in this sense). I honestly don't have anything to be ashamed of and even if I did I wouldn't post it on facebook. I'm not entirely sure why people get so worked up over this stuff, but I think it's kind of odd that somebody would post something on the internet and not think people would see it.

Also, as much as an internet faux pas as this may be, I'm kind of tired of Anonymous. They were funny at first when they were doing flashmobs outside of Scientology centers, but the shticks really gotten old and it really seems like they've run out of real enemies.

I've had a facebook page for about only a year before shutting down, for pretty much the same reasons. Besides it was just a lamer version of myspace, a sort of digital prostitution of an ideia of friendship. It is true, your information is flowing around and is being used without your knowledge for other purposes. It's is also *very easy* to hack; and I mean this, super easy; I once bet a friend I could get access to all his pictures and I did in a few hours, and he had all his privacy settings on maximum.

It's also true about it never being deleted. Even when I took down mine, the page and the records still remain there, and I can probably still login even now. So yeah I'm very happy to hear this, lives are not tools of the government, and things like facebook just make it easier for them to be, but thats just my opinion.

Ever notice why the news only post bad stories? Because no one cares enough about those who do good. That's why the good are never recognized.

You my good man are a genius, cause with people now days all they want to here about is the bad stuff that happens not the good.

For example: if a man just saved kids from a burning bus not that important.

But if he started the fire all the news crews would be all over the place.

To be honest, the good has never, EVER been recognized as much as the bad.

There are even video games that try to illustrate this concept, my most prominent title being Final Fantasy Tactics; Ramza does all his good through work that is unnoticed.

Only problem I had with facebook was when my parents stuck pictures of my little one up on their profile. It friggin' irritates me so much when people put baby pictures up on the internet. And I mean, some of them would be a fucking paedophile's wet dream. It's disgusting.

Other than that, I do have a facebook page. A few photos of me and my partner and some friends, and just some random posts. Nothing too personal, and like what a few people here have said, I don't have anything shameful on there.

Oh please. Everybody who's actually marched on to their lair knows that Anonymous only tend to launch an assault once a year or so ¬_¬ This declaration is likely just a small band of Anon's which in itself is simply a concept. There isn't enough hate generated for FB for Legion to notice or care. It's true that FB and Google and every other social site stores our information, it's what we asked them to do.

Governments have our information..! o= Well good. I'd hope when I call the tax office the government would bloody know who I am. If you live in a country it's damn guaranteed they know! For example in the UK the NHS: Doctors will take note of everything. It's their job. They are a public organisation meaning they fall under the government ¬_¬ Various organisations have your info. Hrm. Let's see... Could that be because you have a bank card and bought something from them? Of course it is.

Not to say that data isn't moved around illegally. But trust me, the least of anybody's worries is that FB might be selling what meager information they have. Oh what inisght they will have into my life. I'm sure my FB post classics of: "I fucking love beating the shit out of midget aliens on Halo" "Mmm, KFC" "Damn, that's some fine RPG right there" and me telling my fiance I love her (which I'm sure is public information anyway) will really give them an edge.

What else can they do with my FB stuff? Tell a government I put Sarcasm(fluent) as my language? >>; Tell them I play FB games once in a blue moon? Oh my god... They can tell them my NAME! and where I LIVE! Oh wait, governments already bloody know that ¬___¬

tl;dr : Ignore this tiny band of idiots that claim the wrath of Legion is going to hit FB. Just prepare for porn on your FB wall at most. ¬_¬

Since anonymous loves the idea of being cyber terrorist, they can just go for it. The only thing the group has going for them is that they are not really a "group" more like trolls that find it hilarious to mess with crap. As far as facebook privacy goes i don't really care, i mean i don't think someone who has real secrets the the government would actually like to see would be updating their status or personal information to that.
