people need sleep. i read some where that 11 hours of sleep deprivation is equal to a blood alcohol level of 0.7

Ouch if that's true then i should be drunk nearly everyday cause I usually sleep for about 4-5 hours every-night for the simple reasons sleeping is boring all the nightmare and not to mention everything I could have done if I was awake.

If sleeping was optional, it had no advantages or disadvantages to your health, I think I would still sleep at least an hour or two a day. Dreaming can be fun but waking up and being tired due to lack of sleep sucks. Currently, there are about 10 hours of broken sleep a day for me. I usually wake up 5 or more times during the night (morning, really), it's just not fun for me.

FYI, your brain doesn't stop thinking while you sleep. In fact, during the whole dreaming part of a sleep cycle your brain has to block some of your muscle movement so you don't react to what you're dreaming. There is a lot of brain activity going on while you sleep :)

Nah, I love sleeping. A good night sleep after doing vigorous physical exercise is one the best feelings ever. Plus, I face numerous stories, ranging from nightmares to magical ones, as dreams in my sleep and the funny part is, I remember most of them. I sleep at around 11:00pm and wake up at 7:00am. It's true that I don't go in the sleep mode immediately, it takes time, but not too much.

I hate not getting sleep. If I don't sleep then I get cranky and it is obvious. I'm a forgiving person and on a normal day nothing truly pisses me off. I might get angry for a moment and freak out at someone for something, but very soon I'm back to normal and in a nice pleasant mood. Very few things can ruin this. But if you catch me on a day where I've had little(Less than 3 hours) to no sleep, then this friendly forgiving person instantly stops being friendly and forgiving.

So Sleep is needed for me. And I love it. Comfortable Warm Bed. ^_^

I honestly love and hate sleep at the same time. I am a bit of a night person, cause I do so much during all hours of the day, and if I didn't need sleep, I would honestly not get any. but at the same time, I am a bit of a lazy bum and have tried working with out much sleep and I get very grumpy and easily annoyed. Also, since my I'm going to college for a degree in biology I have had reasons for sleep drilled into me, so I see the importance of it.

As it stands right now I get on average maybe 6 hours of sleep.

Sleep is inconvenient. I rarely remember dreams, so if I didn't need to sleep to live, I wouldn't sleep at all.

If you want to start remembering your dreams, either sleep more or learn to lucid dream. After you learn to lucid dream, either your dreams will become more vivid and memorable or you just wont dream at all

I love sleep. I love the feeling you get when you wake up from a good night's sleep. I DON'T, however, like the bed hair!!!!

What is Lucid Dreaming, btw? I am curious.

rofl. A long time ago, i used to keep a dream diary, though that was very short lived. Now the only dream's I remember are the one's involving me being chased through a Hedge Maze, which is still one of my biggest fears.

Its when you fall asleep without losing consciousness basically. So you have really vivid dreams. Just lie down without moving and let your mind wander. After a while you will be conpletely relaxed and will start having really awesome dreams that you can actually remember afterwards. But it takes a bit of practise to be able to do it well. If you want some research then check this out.

that sounds really interesting. If you don't mind my asking, have you been able to do it?

Yes actually, and one cool thing is that by listening to certain kinds of music quietly then you are actually able to guide the dreams. Halls of the mountain king really didnt work though... But its a good experience and is fairly easy to do after a couple repetitions. But for your first time, just stay calm and try it in a quiet place.
