Sleep

sleep seems to be something we all have different opinions about. some of us think sleep is a waste and others not so much. i ask the questions.

Do you think sleep is a waste of time? (excluding the fact we need it)

and how much sleep do you currently get on average a night?

i myself have mixed feelings on sleep. I have frequent nightmares of an event i'd rather not discuss but when i'm not having broken sleep, i enjoy the peace and that my brain stops thinking and i currently get 6-8 hours of broken sleep

I get about 5-7 hours of sleep average per night. Regarding dreams, I NEVER have a recollection of what my brain does in the period that I "sleep." I don't see it as particularly useless but it does get in the way of me running around doing business, while on the flipside it tends to speed up my day.

Honestly, I rather sleep for four hours waiting for a party then go jog or play video games for four hours. At least I'll be energized by the time the party starts.

I have on and off insomnia and sometimes only can get 5-10 hours of sleep per 3 days. Then on occasion I have a day or two where I'm out like a light for about 10-12 hours straight.

I also have a nightmare that makes sleeping more of a chore. When I can't sleep for long periods of time I don't really get fatigued, so sleeping in my opinion is a waste of time.

I hate sleeping.

1. I have Tons of pains to where when I lie down, I hurt.

2. I Love researching and finding out shit...

3. I love watching my anime and reading my manga.

4. I'm a night person but I still live at home, so ultimately My parents would come in my room and kick my ass for sleeping during the day and not at night... Sucks, but I do most of my shit at night, I get frequent headaches and the nighttime reduces them(im guessing from lack of night)

those are my reasons.

Edit*

I go to bed about 7am and get up at about 9am... so yeah, I don't sleep... Its more like a power nap.

Sometimes it's very peaceful especially after a more active day, but sometimes I do feel it to be a large waste of time and an annoyance as I'd rather being do something else. Nightmares can also be incredibly disturbing and I'm not easily disturbed. My time to sleep various. The time I spend sleeping a day can be as little as 2hrs or as much as 12hrs. The times I choose to sleep will vary even more, but usually I'm going to bed between 11pm-6am to waking at 7am-1pm.

well heres a interesting dream i had

"i was in a weird room with a bunch of old furniture and stuff like that i could move around freely as if i was awake. there were 4 sides and 2 sides of the room were open it was bright and i couldn't see outside. it was raining with strong winds hitting my face. it was cold i was trying to get behind a cabinet aaway form the rain.... it was no use. after that the dream ended its as if i was in a different world." i have these kinds of dreams alot. i only sleep about 5 hours a day but its a awesome 5 hours though in tell i get a nightmare with it rarely happens.

I suffer extremely bad insomnia. If I do sleep, I get two or three hours but theres always a nightmare lurking in the back of my mind. I've gotten to the stage of being paranoid to sleep. The only time I seem to truly rest at all is when my boyfriend is beside me. I just drop off into sleep from exhaustion and theres nothing but peace when I'm with him. It sounds corny but it's true. Now that he's elsewhere at the moment, I'm worried about my upcoming college course due to this struggle.

Since it's summer break, my sleeping habits aren't good and schools about to start again. Usually, I find it hard to go sleep during the time I'm suppose to (but during the day I'll lay down for a second and end up taking 3 hour naps). And when I lay down the bed is soo uncomfortable but when it's time to get up, the bed the softest thing ever. Sometimes when I wake up, I'll have a headache or my jaw hurts or my nose is stuffy. And no matter how early I go to bed, I still feel tired throughout the day. On a regular school day, I'd probably go to bed around 10PM to 11PM and wake up at 5:30AM (school starts at 7:30 but I take a long time to get ready and drive there.)

I don't really think sleep is a waste of time, I'd be very bored during 4AM when I ran out of things to do on the internet. My dreams can be the weirdest things at times and I usually get nightmares about zombies (even sometimes I would wake up angry because of a dream, lol.) but I still rather sleep than staying awake all the time.

I'm a hard insomniac myself, but for that same reason I can tell you all sleeping is neither useless nor a "waste of time" as many put it; REM sleep is vital, its the way your brain works out its troubles and shuts down, I often have trouble reaching this stage. When I was younger I could go 2 or 3 days without sleeping, or go weeks sleeping only 2 to 3 hours at night, but it got to me. Now its less frequent, but I still have "micro-sleep" issues, its when you sleep but wake up so fast you can hardly remember it. I hate those kinds of nights- where I'm dead tired, and I just can't shut off, it's really annoying... spinning around from one side of the bed to the other, and before you know it it's already morning out, but you feel like you haven't slept at all...sucks the life force right out of ya. So yeah if you have a nice sleeping schedule/habit, stick to it, don't ruin it just because you wanna be awake longer for some reason, its counter-productive in long-term.

PS: Oh and I've also developed a "Day-Night Reversal" quirk. Basically i keep adding an hour or two to my threshold, so some weeks I sleep during the day, others through the night, because sooner or later I cycle in between. Again, too much party and little rest, these things are bound to happen.

I don't get much sleep because of my annoying cat I love him to pieces but LEAVE ME ALONE D : I've also been pretty stressed lately and got kicked outta my house. But I do like to sleep when i can but it seems every morning I have to wake up for work or something and when I get the chance to sleep in I just can't and end up getting up.

I like to sleep and find my dreams very interesting, I just had the same dream 100% nothing changed the other day from a year ago, it took me 3 days until I remembered that I had that dream before and my bf told me I did. Creepy but cool.
