Honestly, Blue Gender was awesome, story was great and plenty of gore for those who love it. Seemed to go relatibly unnoticed by the Anime community though. English version even had the voice of Goku from Dragonball Z as a supporting voice actor. Highly recommend to those who love anime. If you like Evangelion, try RahXephon. very similar.

1)The gundam series (except Seed which I don't consider a "true" gundam series, mainly because it felt like it was made by and for 5 year olds)

2) Code Geass (mecha designs and fights where ok, like it cauz of the story and great characters)

3) Macross (self explanatory)

4)Gurren Lagaan (also self explanatory)

5)Neon Genesis Evanagelion

You do realize Seed was a modern take on the original series right? It was nearly a copy.

If anything the ONLY series not a 'true' Gundam would be G Gundam because it's the only one to not follow the formula and instead derive into a silly tournament where Gundams can revive and auto-heal themselves.
