Nero D. Ace
let's face it. americans have a very simple view of good and evil. the good guy always wins his battles fair and square while the bad guy tries every dirty trick to gain an advantage and still doesn't win.these americans have butchered dragon ball, astro boy, speed racer and now they're planning to remake DEATH NOTE.God help me. i won't be able to stomach the cruelties they're gonna do to L and Light.does anyone agree? Cynthia
Can't be any worse than the live action Death Note movie. Also you're generalizing, plus how about some sources?
M33 User
Haha, I was just watching the live action Death Note. Pretty lame movie to me compared to the action filled show.

SenSei
Dragon Ball Evolution was pretty worst, by guess is that Death Note would be worst 2...
Nero D. Ace
the sources are the review sites and thousands of angry fans who were eagerly anticipating the return of their fav characters only to be disappointed by the lame show they saw/
Neko15
Death Note the live action movie was not as interesting as the anime, because japanese people make awesome anime but die at live action while american people are awesome at live action and cartoons are all drawn different so... it is not as good as japanese anime. DigitalPimp
Americans cant really spoil Dragon ball or Speedracer because they already suck...Im very pickky when it come to anime and there are a handful of Japan anime that i like anyway..Its always the same to me.Like its normally someone driving a big robot or everyone in the anime is a real Badazz with all these powers so nobody really sticks out in the story. As far as american remakes go look at the G1 Transformers. Its one of the best shows of all time because of what america made it...Japans version really stinks
animenerd99
Hmm the only bad live-action film sI've seen is DBZ Evolution & Speed Racer it depends on the directiing, acting and how much the plot sticks to the original anime plot, Americans can make good live0action films you gotta give it a chance like Myrodis19 said don't just assume it's going to be bad and plus if the directors wouldn't try to Americanize the movies so much it could be awesome we do better a live-action stuff anyways
Nero D. Ace
ok granted some american adaptations are good.wat i'm saying is that unless they can meet our expectations, they shouldn't even consider remaking an anime
skate.101
Japan America Japan America Japan America Japan America WTF who cares .... its good that we get two sources of animation
Ripcat
Always thought the Death note live actions were great easily on par with the anime. I saw them before the anime so that's probably why i rank it so high.
shyguysteve
i understand the point of this topic, i just haven't the anime shows jap original counter part to really compare what has really been made different.though i do see how dragon ball was pretty much sculpted down to be for a younger audience, i think the same thing happened to one piece when aired on... 4kids i believe. shadowtheman
Okay so whats the topic. 1.America is to stupid for anime. 2.American remakes suck. 3.American can't make a live action of an anime worth a damn. These seem to all be floating around in this thread so i'll try to answer them all. 1. The whole dragon ball thing is simpler then you think. When the show was brought to the U.S. anime was still largely unknown and was underestimated by all. At that time every though anime were no different then any other cartoons so they were treated the same. So it got the kiddy treatment like every thing else. 2. Okay this seems to be the difference between a good dub and a bad dub. Since this question is generic and is every ware on every single anime sight out there i'm not going to bother. 3. Live action vs anime. They are two different things. Don't forget this simple point. That's why anime was invented. It's cheaper and it allows for more creative influence. The other thing is that I never really counted these rehashes as being apart of anime. Just Hollywood's nack for having no originality. So why bother with them in the first place. DrumRoll
avatar the last airbender was a very good western 'anime' in my opinion, so there's still hope.
