The poll mostly reflects information pulled from here. It's apparently a very buggy program and tends to be the cause of people's issues when it comes to playback. YMMV, but it's a more or less widely maligned media player, at least in tech circles. I personally have never had any issues with it, but I use it about as often as I wash the ceilings.

On Arch I was using Parole player as the output was very crisp and clear an it is dead quick. Had a few missing features so I have switched to,

XT-7-player which is fast and has all the features I need.

On Windows I use Zoom player or VLC. I prefer Zoom but it falls down on some  vids which VLC then plays. I'm not keen on using VLC, it is a decent player but it does not grab me.

lol vlc media player i use. well still i dun really think that it doesnt play hd in HD. i mean it does play hd in hd.

The poll text is old/outdated. Before VLC 2.0, VLC would downscale video for smoother playback on shit PC's according to it's own website. VLC has always been a video program designed for the masses for ease of use and not for the technically advanced for quality. VLC is basically the Internet Explorer of Video Playback.

I use Zoom Player free on my work/play computers - I like the whole interface of it. I use xbmc on my Htpc. codec pack used to be CCCP, but they stopped upgrading it - i now use Sharks codec pack. I have no issues with Playback
