JohnFlower
Sure there is, but I don't think we should discuss things like that on an open forum... I will, however, recommend Kaspersky as your next antivirus/internet security solution.
shadowtheman
Actually alot of virus companies have free legal versions of there program. I'm useing avast right now. It just has the anti vireus no extras but thats all you need. I use Advanced system care for every thing else and that I do have a subcription for. † L4ugh
If you're going to spend money on security, I'd spend it on a good router. Every paid virus scanner I have tried has always done more bad than good. A simple free virus scanner and a free software firewall should be good enough. A good well configured router will add an extra layer of security.
Koby
The paid antivirus programs are almost always bloatware. Might as well go free. Microsoft Security Essentials works fine for a program always running in the background. You can occasionally run MalwareBytes and/or Hitman Pro as well for free to ensure everything is still smooth sailing. DrumRoll
thanks koby, I'll do that. but should i use malware bytes or hitman pro?
Koby
thanks koby, I'll do that. but should i use malware bytes or hitman pro? I usually don't run either unless I believe I'm infected or I'm doing my bi-annual checkup, in which case I run both of them because they both use different protocols of what's classified to pull up as something. cloudxkillah
Im using Avast Free Antivirus here, as long you register you get free updates/virus definitions. Program seems to update at least 2+ times a week and works really well, its stopped about 95% of the threats/viruses that ive run into so-far. Draximum
Webroot hasnt let me down as a decent paid one. For free ones, I always liked lavasoft adaware but since their latest version my love for it has went down plenty, but only because I was used to their old interface lol. AnimeSaw
It depends where you are located and what internet company you have but if you have AT&T Uverse Internet or any AT&T internet then you can get a free full version of McAfee for as long as you have the contract. That's what I have.
Moodkiller
I heard McAfee has so many problems though (not saying that any antivirus is perfect) but a lot of general computer issues have been cause by McAfee...
AnimeSaw
I heard McAfee has so many problems though (not saying that any antivirus is perfect) but a lot of general computer issues have been cause by McAfee... Yes that was happening to me for the longest time, McAfee was using at least 50% of the computer resources and just to run in the background. Sometimes I had to just turn it off... that was a couple of years tho, now it seems to run smoothly and it doesn't interfere with the performance of the computer any more. It does if the scan is running but all of them slow the system. And something else that was happening is that it wouldn't update to windows 7 or something but with time they came with a patch and it finally worked. So I don't know, maybe you were experiencing the same issues as I was.

Oh well, seems like they have been able to fix it and make it work better than what it used to. But you know the internet now days, they will find something like this and decide, nope, McAfee is useless! And move on to find something else

I don't care about antivirus.. when I used to buy it, if Norton was cheaper then Norton it was... that simple. Some people actually pay more to use the same old antivirus for whatever reason. But not me! if its free is what I use

Spybot is freeware, with a donate option, but the 'full' version really doesn't have anything major added.I also love Piriform's Cleaner and Defraggler
