Koby
Well pretty much right off the bat everyone knows any live-action version of an Anime done in Hollywood is going to suck. Why? Well for starters, Hollywood doesn't care about the Anime itself, so they will change stuff as they see fit, such as character names, personality, time line, clothes they were, background, and other aspects. As seen with the Dragonball Evolution movie. Also some Anime has some whack hair styles or colors that simply cannot be copied. Even the Japanese Live-Action films which do a decent job at best with Anime... doesn't always keep hair color as seen in their Higurashi film where all characters had black hair, while the Anime everyone had a different color such as green, yellow, purple, etc.As diverse as Anime is.. it's not very likely to be able to make a live-action film look similar with characters. However they could try to keep the rest of it intact. Though Hollywood as I said, doesn't do this. As they don't care about it, they butcher it up and make it something they think a normal USA citizen who doesn't like Anime might tune into. Because it's all about money and bringing it to more people. That said, Live-Action can't always do the high-leveled action often seen in shonen series either. So fights in Bleach, Dragonball, etc.. won't even be able to be similar to the Anime style of fighting. Instead we'll get something straight out of a Jackie Chan or Jet Li film. Now the Anime that has a decent chance of getting a half decent life action film are those that are light on fighting, realistic with character designs and hair color, etc.. Such as Death Note by not be too bad. Also shows like Black Lagoon might be able to pull off a decent live-action. But Hollywood wouldn't allow it to stay intact. So we will never see something that stays true so that Anime fans will like it.

shadowtheman
They tend to whitewash anime live actions any way. Takes away much of the charm. To me it shows that Hollywood doesn't care much for the shows heritage. Its all money money money. Its rather messed up. There targets for these movies are usually people like us. Yet they never even try to attempt any of the standards we like.

kuulaznguy
Hollywood change too much of the original to make any adaptation successful. I think if they stick to the original, it would at least be decent. I think they're just afraid that if they keep it the same, some people would not understand it and would not make a lot of money, but there's so many anime fans out there that that wouldnt even matter. Gero50
Whenever Hollywood and Warner try to make a movie out of anime it just ends badly. As Koby stated all they care about is making money. They could care less for the series its based on. Plus most of them lack a basic understanding of Japanese Culture. Thus removing one of the biggest charms of anime in my opinion. TopGunman
They can hardly make good movies based on American works, there's no way Hollywood can make foreign stuff good.

J-Lord
I don't think these types of movies would work well mainly due to the reasons Koby explained in his post. You just can't pull off some of the things that animes do well and then try to put them into a live action film. They can try to pull of the action scenes but they will never look right as compared to an animes action scene where it does not look out of place. Hair styles and some character apperences also cannot be pulled off with make-up and wigs, CGI may help but it won't give the same effect as the anime. Some may like these action films as they bring the anime to life in a certain way but I for one don't really like them. Kenzou
I like anime movies in general since they do capture some of the essences from the main series but adds it own uniqueness to it. Also some anime films I have seen recently were more like carbon based copies of that show you've seen in the past like Summer Wars which is a good anime film but it borrows heavily from Digimon Season 1. Babybluex
Why not!! I've watched Avatar and Ultimate spider man, both which released by Nick. I believe, and both were really nice. The problem, however, is that Warner Bros. tend to be too soft, this applies to Death Note. I don't think they can do a good job with Deathnoth, but they'll do a very good job with Bleach, probably. Especially after the Bleach series has been ended
