Silent-Shadows
Funimation has decided to drop the ocean dubbed for the first season and go with in-house cast for season 1 and 2; The cast has not been announced.
Koby
Seeing as I haven't seen the original dub, I can't say if it was any good or not to be excited or disappointed about this announcement. On the other hand, at least this way all seasons will end up having the same voices, which I'd prefer rather than having to listen to all new voices after season one. Nero D. Ace
Well, I originally saw the subbed version of this and got the first taste of Kugimiya Rie, the Queen of Tsundere's voice acting. The show was pretty nice though some of the characters were annoying at time.My only contribution to this topic is that - Y'know, there are some anime that should NEVER be dubbed (Genshiken, Gintama) and this is one of them. Please guys, if you do decide to support these guys and buy the box set, try watching a few episodes in the original Japanese and if you can get used to it, just watch it with the subs. No amount of dubbing can make the voice acting as good as the staff did it in Japan.
Silent-Shadows
I like the that they're changing actors so its not a problem to me, just thought I would inform everyone else so they won't feel butt-hurt when they see it.
ruekk
Good thing I haven't started watched it yet, would suck to hear new voices after already starting it.
Silent-Shadows
I have the Ocean dubs and the Animax dubs of season 1 so I have no problem with a Funi Dub either.
Reptoholic
I have to admit I am a little disappointed, Alastor had an amazing voice. But if this means they are gonna do the rest dubbed than I guess it is not so bad. Do you know when they are going to start airing the new ones? Also are they just redoing the voices or all of it? idl12
That is good news actually..the original dub was pretty bad.shana's voice was ok, but everyone else reminded me of the old ninja robots dub,
†RazorDan
Ive seen the S1 ocean dub and S2 animax dub and they've both had issues. Although the ocean dub was pretty good overall. However, I like funi dubs and it'd be nice to have S1 and 2 with the same voices.

-Zero-
I thought that the Ocean dub was decent but it wasn't superb. Hopefully once it's redone we can compare apples-to-apples and see which one is "better".anyway, im glad to hear they will be doing the seasons again. how did you find out they where redoing them (links), and how did you get the date of sept 11 2012 for season 2?It's on the Funimation website/>http://www.funimation.com/rojas/blog/coming-soon-to-blu-ray-and-dvd/706721The news about the redub were announced at Anime Expo./>http://www.funimation.com/funimation-general/forum/funimation-central/funimation-general/new-dub-cast-for-shakugan-no-shana

hagi
Thanks for the links SeraphZero.now back to the topic at hand.first blue exorcist now shakugan no shana. why funimation? why change a dub that worked. i hope funimation at least re-uses Tabitha St. Germain i have grown to like her VA work on portraying Shana. It wouldn't feel the same without her as Shana's VA in my opinion. at least i will get season 2 dubbed so i can't complain much, but i will have re-buy season 1 of shana now since funimation is going to re-dub it with new VA cast. hagi
Viz Media is english dubbing Blue Exorcist, NOT FUNimation.I dunno how anyone could confuse the two :|.i didn't confuse the two. what i meant was what funimation is doing to shakugan no shana, is similar to what aniplex is doing. i.e letting viz media dub blue exorcist which doesn't need a dub its fine as is in my opinion. same goes for shana why change the original English dub when it worked perfectly
Koby
why change the original English dub when it worked perfectlyBecause otherwise season 2, season 3, and all the ova's would have a different dub. This way people can collect the entire series with a single dub.
