is there a downside to owning anime?

yeah the title says it all pretty much.

My point of view... I think its awesome to be able to own and download all these great animes that people have grown up with or remember in their childhoods.

However the downside for me of having it all is that I got bored with it all. honestly I set my playlists up like a TV station airing them at random. But I would rather watch them like I did when I was 10 over watching them like I do now, DBZ is super cool but just being able to skip through and see all the good parts in a few hours is kinda boring. I liked watching them on TV.

Does anyone else feel a downside of having so much anime?

If I ever see an anime, even If I have seen it before, I watch it from the beginning, so no. That is just me though, I like to get back into the story from the beginning, so If I ever watch the dragon ball saga, I start dragon ball, dragon ball Z, Dragon Ball GT. I never had any channels growing up, still don't, so I never watched anime or cartoons as a kid, not till this year, so I enjoy this immensely .

Well not at all, you see i don't really re-watch what i have already watched because i have a lot more anime to watch so i don't have the chance to go through a second time but when friends or sibling's ask for it i browse through it. So it surprising for me to hear that some people have re-watched anime's so often when there tonne's of anime out there waiting to be watched. But then again its possible that i will re-watch some anime's in the near future.

Doesn't sound like to me that you got much anime, because if you did then you won't be bored. Honestly there are so many animes to watch that there is no way that you could be bored. DBZ is good and all but rewatching it a few times is kinda overkill.

Lots of anime is a good thing. Then you can continue to watch new shows and rewatch those that are good. and if you dont want to get bored of stuff, then just get more anime rather than rewatching the same shows over and oover again. In fact, if you decide to watch stuff over and over again then either it should be awesome or you dont have enough anime. And to solve your tv woes, just get the new releases since one episode comes out every week.

I have 2 terabyte drives for anime & cartoons, both have almost been filled and I'm bored with it all.

yes, in the process of downloading them all I watched them before getting the next Ep or series.

Wow, watch enough :P well maybe you should try to find some of the more obscure animes then. things like Myanimelist can give reccomendations of what you should watch next, and have a large database which includes a lot of said obscure animes. Or you could also try live action tv

Oh I've been all over, even have 2 other terabytes for tv shows and movies.

the only anime types that don't interest me are the ones based on high school life and drama.

live japanese short series are for that purpose and its way better.

I don't own anime series, but I do own Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle on dvd.

Regarding Spirited Away I've watched it so many times yet it always feels like it's the first time. That's just great pacing for you. The only other stuff I've watched equally as much are all three Bourne movies and Daniel Craig's Bond movies.

Some entertainment has to be OWNED because they never get boring.

If you've already watched the anime you can definitely fall into that pit of "I just want to see the cool parts" and "omg this part suck, skip, skip, skip". The boring parts that you already know of become like the commercials of cable TV. Regardless though, watching an anime first time is always exciting, especially if the anime spikes your interest. I tend to own anime because, I think at least, I have some kind of OCD-like need to just HAVE IT. Even though I can just stream it online easy enough. But no... it's GOTTA BE ON MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE! (of if I really like the anime, in my dvd shelf)
