I voted 4. It is not that much popular here. In my surrounding i met only one person who watches anime but even in that case only ocassionally. Even my friends and folks still labels me as childish, saying that i still love cartoons. <.< But its nothing unsual, and its the case with most of people here as i can see. The only anime worthwhile that they aired here was Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach and Naruto, not completed Bleach and i am not under the impression they would finish it at all...since its on the hiatus for a couple of years now. <.< Am trying to umm reqruit more peeps lol, but not very successful at it. *coughs*

It's pretty popular here since around the time cable got introduced(not to long ago in comparison to other places,) toonami used to be showing instead of kids wb and every evening you'd see dbz showing, then our local stations back when they were cool started showing samurai x(screw you media blasters dub!) and Cyborg009 as well as card captors and some other stuff. so just about anyone who was young at that time is currently into anime or at least knows about naruto, hell it's at the point where girls pretend to like it to impress their boyfriends so I'd say that's pretty damn popular. Though it isn't sold officially anywhere here since piracy is pretty rampant and is rarely pursued by the law and no once actually buys their shit anymore lol.

Same here bro, those bloody moochers pretend like they don't like anime but when I gave them High School Of The dead, there reaction was almost like it was there first time watching porn or something like that

This, yet unless I show the anime to them they rekon all other animes are childish and are for kids!!!! I am yet to find someone who understand my deep deep love for anime the way I do...

Where I live people do watch anime, I introduced most of the people I know to anime, and a load of people have seen anime like DBZ & Yu-Gi-Oh! but don't know that it's anime. But I know it's not to popular here because in most media shops, like HMV, only about an 1/8 is dedicated to anime and thats only on the 1st floor (2nd floor for Americans).

Here in Southern Africa, lots of people are aware of the existence of anime. Especially high schoolers. In my high school, there's a certain group of guys who really love anime and watch it more than most people watch TV. Outside of the group of young people who like it, not many people bother with it. I suppose adults just see it at a silly thing that will soon pass. That's my reason for giving a 5.

Situation is bad here, people don't even want to see HOTD even if I tell them about the "bullet dodging boobs" and fan service in it.

I just wanted to note things like this won't always interest people in something, and may even turn them off from it. It certainly makes me less inclined to look into something if the only reason it's being recommended is fan service.

It wasn't until after I moved out of Japan and came back to the States that I started reading manga, and rather voraciously at that. At some point, much in the same way television in general lost its appeal to me, I stopped consuming so much media as I progressed through high school, reaching an all time low after enlisting. Almost ironically, since a lot of people I hung out with in tech school consumed a lot of anime and television. I just went the opposite way, haha.

Well I voted for 5 here. In my country there are people who watch animes but it is still very much unpopular. I mean there ain't a single shop where u can find mangas or anime DVD. People here thinks that only immature kids see animes. As for cosplayers or anime conventions I saw them only in my dream. Those two things are practically non existing here. At least many people of my age enjoys animes( they know the difference between animes and cartoons at least).

Hmm.. I wonder what kind of situation is in Lithuania. Not so popular I guess. At least I myself hadn't encountered any anime lovers like myself. However there are some forums, in which people gather to discuss anime matters and even sub group which translates to Lithuanian. So it's not like dead desert, but neither it's amazon. So, something like "anime is alive here, but just barely, like economical situation in Greece :haha:". Well, at least I think so. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows.

Like the title say how popular is Anime in your country. If it's I unpopular then why is it so unpopular?

I live in India where Anime is really very unpopular. I mean if people see you watching Anime they'd think that you're extremely Immature and you need to grow up. I've never seen any Anime DVD in any of the shops over here nor any of the famous anime movies. Only once did I saw an Anime DVD in shop that was Ponyo and that too it had somethiong to do with Disney. Only once or twice did I hear about Anime film festival over here. I've met people who actually hate Anime. So how popular is Anime in your country?

Same here I also live in India/kolkata here people dont even watch cartoons and its true people think u are immature i doubt they could live without anime if someone forcibly made them watch a good one

My country's a pretty small country but the amount of people into anime here are staggering. However, I can't really say the same number's hardcore anime fans(some of them only knowing popular ones like Samurai X, Naruto, Bleach)....but there are a lot however.

We had our own "Anime-Fests" however that stopped a while back...
