PersocomLover
Article here. Because of the last film not meeting expectations Hayao is afraid he might have to pull back and take the studio away from Studio Ghibli and just become Ghibli to manage copyrights.Kind of a scary thought while this studio made amazing movies such as my favorites Spirited Away, Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, and Howl's Moving Castle. Koby
I didn't know the figures, but I had thought Ponyo and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time had both done fairly well if not great. I've liked nearly all Miyazaki movies I've seen and would be sad to see it gone. I don't know what to say about a Porco Rosso sequel though... Porco Rosso was one of my least favorites of Ghibli films. I am excited to see The Borrower Arrietty, but was never a big fan of what it's based off of. Most of Miyazaki's films draw from stuff the USA had first though, so it's no surprise that one is too, though this film is actually being based on it, rather then borrowed. stafer
Well I hope his latest movie dose well, I love Miyazaki, I've seen all of his movies. I didn't know he was making a sequel to Porco Roso and his new movie The Borrower Arrietty should be awesome.
ari_88
Huh? I thought Hayao was retiring after Ponyo? Yeah, his movies just aren't like the older ones (not that I don't love his latest movies). But PLEASE Hayao! Leave Porco Rosso alone! I just can't see this working. Vael
NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!wwhyyyyyy??studio ghibli is one of the most imaginative I've seen (personal thought), I really hope they stay a float. I thought porco rosso was hilarious.interesting fact, ghibli is an airplane that was built in italy in a date not know that was named the ghibli which is a word from arabic meaning hot dust carrying wind that hayou miyazaki admired, but when they officially called their studio that they thought it was pronounced "jibli" not "gibli" due to the japanese, italian pronunciation differences.got this info one day after watching nausica valley of the wind on DVD then watching all the extras on said DVD including the documentary on studio ghibli.did you know he hayou miyazaki spent an entire day watching the mechanics of womens skirts, looking at how they moved and swayed in the wind and how it moved in movement. interesting stuff huh? gryxzl
I thought Miyazaki-san was passing the torch to his son, and letting Isao Takahata, his partner for decades, take the reigns of Ghibli. Am I mistaken?BTW, I own Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Naasica of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Porko Rosso, The Cat Returns, My Neighbor Totoro, Ponyo, and Takahata's My Neighbors the Yamatas. Anyone top 11 Studio Ghibli works?

Lelouch1199
I could only see Ghibli disbanding after miyazaki's death or retirement, seeing has his movies are really the main titles of the company.
apr118
No way... I loved their works especially Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.
jojojimbo
Second Comment on the article pretty much sums up my view:"This isn't such bad news. The fire has long since gone out of Miyazaki's belly. Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle were a far cry from his early work, like Nauscicaa and Cagliostro. Even the good later works like Mononoke and Spirited Away were a little preachy. His best days are far behind him."
skullking123
Ghibli isnt going anywhere. This past year they went back into the positive. No reason to leave now. Regarding Hayao Miyazaki, if he wants to continue making movies I have no problem watching them
Lanthias
I really hope that they don't go anywhere. Studio Ghibli is has created some great movies... and I have most of them at home.
lady_kurai
That makes me sad I love the Studio Ghibli movies. I hope that it doesn't have to come to that and that they are able to work things out! I loved Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle and would be very sad to see them not make any more movies...
