mkv issue...

I think the subs which are on the file are softsubs, so I think to get them back you should try out MKV merge and open the original file deselect all the tracks except for the subtitle track and then add the converted file and click on start muxing. And I think that should do it. Let me know what happens.

MKV's are the greatest thing to come out for videos since videos... Its an awesome container that allows for greater quality at lower sizes... And why are you trying to convert your mkv's to something else? if your doing it to stream it to your xbox 360 or ps3 you can just get the ps3 media server, it works for both and is able to use MKV files..

I don't know why mkv existed. I hate that format.:(

tell me you're joking? its actually the best format atm for encoding movie/anime with great quality in small size.imo wmv & avi are worst

Everytime when I convert any mkv with subs they get lost...

I use Xilisoft for converting.

Is this because of Xilisoft or am I doing something wrong ?:confuse:

thanks for any help in advance...

Cheers

maybe u should use mkvtoolnix. it has mkvmerge that mux tracks into mkv container.

Do you play the files on Windows Media Player? If so, whilst the video is playing, right click the picture and there will be and option below saying:

"Lyrics, captions and subtitles". Put your mouse on that option and there should be 2 options, Subtitles ON IF AVAILABLE or OFF. Make sure the option is set on ON. If that is not the reason, I don't know what the problem is.
