aikindoma
Everytime when I convert any mkv with subs they get lost...I use Xilisoft for converting. Is this because of Xilisoft or am I doing something wrong ?thanks for any help in advance...Cheers
spidey5443
I think the subs which are on the file are softsubs, so I think to get them back you should try out MKV merge and open the original file deselect all the tracks except for the subtitle track and then add the converted file and click on start muxing. And I think that should do it. Let me know what happens.

†TheChaosLegion
I don't know why mkv existed. I hate that format. That's just because you don't understand it/can't use it right. For everyone else, the mkv is one of the best things to ever happen to video.
Renzourin
mkv is the best thing to happen to video it has raised the quality level which we can put on our anime and decreased the general size of it as well and allows for quite a bit of variability in sound and video codec and encoding to produce various results
†Irish
MKV's are the greatest thing to come out for videos since videos... Its an awesome container that allows for greater quality at lower sizes... And why are you trying to convert your mkv's to something else? if your doing it to stream it to your xbox 360 or ps3 you can just get the ps3 media server, it works for both and is able to use MKV files.. kreepindeath69
you could try aimersoft video ultimate converter, idk if it will keep the subs, but u can make your own if your that determined.(has a way in the program to make your own subs)
Xanodus
Do you play the files on Windows Media Player? If so, whilst the video is playing, right click the picture and there will be and option below saying:"Lyrics, captions and subtitles". Put your mouse on that option and there should be 2 options, Subtitles ON IF AVAILABLE or OFF. Make sure the option is set on ON. If that is not the reason, I don't know what the problem is.
