remster
I prefer to have my two daughters (ages 8 and 11) watch anime over cartoons or Disney shows. So far they've liked Moribito and Last Exile. They've also enjoyed all the Miyazaki movies. I'm going to try Twelve Kingdoms next. Can anyone recommend other shows (They have to be age appropriate without being too violent, disturbing or silly.)
Arvo
Perhaps this would be better in the Recommendations Section.I'm not too sure what Anime an 8 or 11 year old girl would watch, but I remember my sisters used to watch Pokemon and Sailor Moon before school. Sorry I wasn't much help.
Floef
I'd try Princess Tutu or Kamichu, I liked both of them anyway.

kwren
my daughter's favorites and easy to find dubs: (she is 5, we tend to watch fairly calm anime with no bloody violence. most are slice of life shows that are appropriate for kids from about 4 up)magical nyan nyan tarutobottle fairya little snow fairy sugarcardcaptor sakurapokemonprincess tutukaleido starfruits basket (one of my all time favorite series, and a super sweet story)hare+guulucky starmagical girl lyrical nanohasomedays dreamersmamotte! lollipop (save me! lollipop)omishi magical theater risky safetyi would totally let my 8-11 year old watch inuyasha. it is a good series and violent but not bloody. my oldest started watching it at about 7. they are also probably old enough to watch the slayers.one that would be great if your girls are good enough readers to do subtitles easily is kemono no souja erin. it does have some violence but it is stylized violence and it there is nothing graphic. it is a gorgeous anime, and even though it is marketed for kids it has a story that can easily suck in grown ups and older kids. my 15 year old loved it. it is done by the same people who made moribito.mushishi is a very neat series, your girls may like it.good girl anime that is not available in dub - at least that i know of:shugo charakirarin revolutionfairy musketeer akazukingakuen alicekobatochi's new address (aka chi's sweet home)yumeiro patissieretegami bachi (letter bee)good series that are more boyish but a girl can get into too:ruroni kenshinyuyu hakeshuzoids, zero and chaotic century were my oldest's favorite.beybladeMAR (marchen awakens romance)hikaru no gorave mastershaman kingdigimon digital monsters

tiki876
Try Rozen Maiden. I think it would really appeal to young girls, especially since it has adorable dolls as the main characters.

Nero D. Ace
if you wanna show it to kids, show them the 4kids version of one piece.that way, they'll be REAL happy when they see the FUNimation version when they grow up.
pspuser31
go for cardcaptors, sailor moon or mew mew power, if they dont like those, look at all the 4kids dubs because the are done for youth audiences.
