zanderman629
Toonami, Kids WB, and Fox definitely. Used to rush home to catch the start of 4pm Toonami and then try to stay up late for Midnight Run.
Midievalfantasy
When I was young I used to love watching sailor moon, but that was it. Then, years later I was told to watch Sword Art Online, which I did. I found it interesting, then found Izatura na Kiss I fell in love with that anime and haven't stopped watching since. sal42
I got into anime when I found out I could download it for free from sites like this one, before my only exposure to anime was Toonami on Cartoon Network. As a kid I watched Dragon Ball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho (great anime by the way), and others through cable on my tiny crt tv. I'm not into anime anymore, but I still keep up with One Piece, through the One Piece collections on dvd.
Scyrous
As a kid I would sporadically watch Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh episodes on TV, but I really got into anime after having finally decided to watch Attack on Titan earlier this year. I've been watching anime every day since then and I'm loving it. 1
Dab is a Cunt
I started off with Yugioh and Pokemon as kid like everyone else. As a pre teen I caught a lot of Naruto and Samurai Champloo and Afro Samurai and FMA and stuff on tv late at night on toonami. A friend tried to get me into a few years ago, he'd watch anime on a smaller tv I had on the left with headphones while I watched cartoons on my big tv on the right and sometimes I'd plug my speakers into his computer and we'd watch together (saw a lot of dbz, AssClass, High School DxD, some of Parasyte and a few others in this manor, all subbed since he's a sub only guy). We did shrooms and watched the Buu saga of dbz way way back in the day that was so much fun. Then I finally decided to watch Samurai Champloo and I've been watching a good amount of anime ever since. That was around when I watched Space Dandy (still my favorite comedy anime along with Mob Psycho 100 even with OPM and DBZ all that other comedy gold out there) and jumped on the OPM hype train. Berserk 97 really kept me into anime tho, nothing else compares for me, and that's with me wanting way more out of all it's anime adaptions cuz the manga really is THAT much better. I also like to think of myself as a fan of very high level cartooning which imo the Japanese have been doing for decades (especially very recently gawt damn) and the west hasn't really been doing that since like the 50s except for a few exceptions like Fritz the Cat and Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Ren & Stimpy and Cow and Chicken and Ed Edd n Eddy and a few Pixar titles to name a few. Jonny Waldis
Back when I was 17 I went through a bout of depression which led to me being in a snarky and condescending state of mind. So one fine day, feeling bored, I decided to consume a piece of entertainment I believed I could justifiably snark upon, just to pass the time. What better target than Anime, of which I had glimpsed very little but was completely certain I knew everything to know about, namely that it all decidedly falls into 2 camps: Childish stuff like Pokemon and perverse tentacle or rape porn while maintaining a nice middle field of pedophillic tentacle and rape porn. So I downloaded this thing called Neon Genesis Evangelion which did not fulfill my expectations in the least, can't say I was disappointed though. Keeping me in the fandom is the memory of what the medium is capable of, especially if someone with a mentality completely different to the one I grew up in decides to do something interesting. Although I sometimes don't watch anything in months or even years, I always keep my ear to the ground, should one of those "interesting" shows come-a-knocking. Crazy Pineapple
Animation that doesn't condescend to the audience. Same thing that appealed to me as a kid is sadly the same thing that appeals to me as an adult--Japan's ability to appeal to all audiences with their animated output. ElementalCards
Pokemon through Kids WB and CN. The DB series, Yuyu Hakusho and Kenshin on CN. Anything else, I may have watched online.
SylentEcho
First anime I ever saw was Ninja Robots, but Dragon Ball Z got me into Anime proper and Bleach and Naruto (Part 1) made me expand into other different ones. The one that kept me there is Dragon Ball / Z.

Nekone
First show I ever watched was Digimon while Fox Kids was around and showing it. I caught it at the start of the very first season, back in 1999 when Fox Kids began to carry the English broadcast of it.
Blackheart
Fairy Tail was the one for me , I did watch some anime but I don't remember them , I was very inspired by Natsu cause he always overpowered his opponents, it was a childish thing but then I started doing some home workout , I don't know how but later now till now I ended up watching most of the rom-com animes

Znders
We had the usual from toonami and fox. Dragon Ball was also my first but I didn't fully get into anime until the sci-fi channel had such shows as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Beebop. I even stayed up way too late to watch them!
unDEADable
Started when I was young, watching Yu Yu Hakusho on Toonami, but I couldn't really get into it. I gave it another chance multiple years later. Eventually got lead into anime such as Date a Live which hooked me into it.

soulea
I won't count Pokemon or Sailor Moon, that's not what got me into anime. First thing I watched on my own was Evangelion. It was great, but I still didn't take anime seriously. Then, when Death Note was airing, so many of from my friends were talking about how good it is, so I had no choice, but to watch it. And I wasn't disappointed! After that I just kept going. There were so many good shows around at that time. So I've been watching anime on and off since then.
