atreyuavenged
Avoid second season, etc. of Animes because they don't want to ruin how the first season ended. I know for a fact I'm doing that with Nodame Cantabile. Also might be the reason I tend to avoid OVA's and the like.
Dark_Angel13
I'm one of those people, I also avoid the last episode of anime's sometimes so I don't have to see the show end and can keep pondering the ending for eternity or until someone spoils it for me lol
Cain
so you wouldn't go for a second season even if it's a great show that you've enjoyed, which ended in a big ass cliffhanger? usually i get pissed off about shows that never had that finishing touch they should have hadbut i could see where you're coming from if the show had some decent ending to it but they just made the 2nd season to milk more money out of itthat's my take on it
atreyuavenged
I wasn't referring to cliffhangers of course. Cliffhangers I cannot wait for another season. Unfinished anime also fall in this category. I was talking about anime that ended and you liked the way it ended and don't wanna potentially mess up how you felt by watching more.
Breathless
If I liked something I'll watch the second and third season for sure, even if I've heard bad things about them. I have no problem disregarding the second season from my mind if I didn't like it. Of course if someone asks about it I'll say "oh the second season was pretty bad, don't watch it" or something but the first season loses nothing from it. By the way, I liked Nodame Cantaible, all three seasons + OVAs. Though the first one was definitely the best, I wouldn't recommend not watching it. (Though personally, I think the manga was much better than the anime) ... Anyway, to answer your question, no. I almost never avoid a future season, unless I didn't like the previous ones. Spin-offs are a different story though, I will avoid them half the time.
Shima_XIX
I used to avoid sequels at first, but then I discovered some sequels which were much better than their respective prequels, so now I usually watch later seasons even when I don't find the first seasons exceptional. AxelVIII
I would have to admit to Darks crime, sometimes I avoid a second season because of how much I enjoyed the first season I don't want to ruin it. And I will, as well, avoid the last few episodes so I don't ruin my thoughts.
hotdog88
If a enjoy the first season or movie, then I will usually watch (or at least start to watch) the second season or sequel, unless it has lots of terrible reviews. Personally, I think its better to watch a second season or sequel just in case it is as good or better than the first, because it would be ashame to miss out on such awsomeness out of fear of dissappointment. That being said, if the second seson or sequel is a bitter disapponitment then you can still just forget about, exclude it from the universe's canon, imagine that it took place in an alternate universe, etc... For example, I thought the third "Shrek" movie was pretty disappointing both in terms of plot and continuity, so I simply pretend it never happened. And the fourth "Shrek" movie still makes sense without it! † Mute point
As long as I can get the second season (and any later seasons) in the same audio and video format as the first, I will watch. If I don't like how it's going, I stop, or I push through to the end and hope it gets better.
DuLake
Yeah. . . I wished I'd done this a few times. Never have, but. . . Ikkitoussen. . .
Malyssa Rahl
With some exceptions, I would rather just watch the next season instead of trying to avoid it.
Sunlight
I avoid this problem because most of the anime I watch only have 1 season or they're movies. I did, however, watch the second season of Black Butler and I regret doing so. I'd imagine if I kept watching series that had more than one season I'd watch the next season. lolrawr
I always watch the next season. If there is a sequel or anything that is related to the series (OVA/special) I usually watch it. My OCD won't let me stop!
wowser
Not me, I would find it too incredibly annoying knowing there's more to the story not to watch it :|
AxelVIII
Come to think of it, pertaining to the thread name, I kinda wish I had done this after the first season of Zero no Tsukaima. The first season was very good, so I start the second, and I go "Wtf? What happened to this Anime??".
J-Lord
I never half finish an anime, I love seeing how cliff hangers end, even if they ruin the anime (though that has never happened.) I guess it is to easy for me to enjoy animes no matter how bad a second season will be or finishing episode. Plus if I never finished it, it would eat away at me till I finished it. Alice
I'm the exact opposite. If I'm really into an anime...I just can't stop myself from watching everything. I always get sad when everything ends, because i just don't want to stop watching. My problem is often trying to start a completely new anime. I'm always afraid of being disappointed...like it just won't have any awesomeness like the animes I watched before it. I have a lot that stay in queue because of this. Pinkie Pie
honestly, i'll watch the first season then research the second to see if it's any good. if it's not, then i'll just spoiler the season. that's what i did for the second season of higurashi along with the OVAs. such a shame too, because it was a great series untill all of those damn OVAs. Dark_Angel13
I recently almost did this with SAO and didnt watch the final episode because I didnt want it to end but then I watched it and I'm glad I did haha.
Pav
Usually when I watch something I watch it till the end because I don't like being kept on the edge, the concept of watching an anime one episode before it ends is confusing to me that's why i watch it till the end.
