Ok, the GOP is heating up and Barack is beginning his own campaign. So my question is, which turd in the pile most strikes your fancy at this point in the election year? I'm not going to get into describing my own personal opinions of the five still in this race (six if you really want to count Roseanne, which I don't), because I know not every american follows politics as much as they should. I would like to at least encourage those who don't follow politics to look into their options. It would be nice if Americans got back to picking their own politicians instead of letting the media do it for them.

I'm also aware that not every member is from the US, but I see no reason why you can't express your opinions in this debate as well. You never know, our next president could change the way we interact with other nations. There is at least one candidate I know of that falls into this category.

As for my current choice right now, I'm not really sure. I know that's a cheap answer, but I would really like to see a debate between Ron Paul and Barack Obama before I really make a choice. I really don't like the idea of having to vote for Barack just to keep Romney out. Hell, the fact I'm even willing to vote for Barack would show some just how not into a Romney Presidency I am.

Honestly I haven't paid much if any attention to the campaigns thus far this year. Mainly because at this point I realize the President doesn't actually have as much power to do what needs to be done as what most people think and also because my single vote won't matter much against the horde of idiot voters we have. I mean George Bush Jr. cheated his way into office in 2000, messes up the country, then the American people actually voted him back into office in 2004. Luckily we somehow ended up with Obama (whom I vote for) in 2008. He hasn't done anything I disliked (that he actually wasn't forced into) and he has tried to get things done, albeit his opponents have fiercely hampered his agenda and tried to do everything they could to stop his plans and make him look bad every chance they got. Honestly, I'm voting Obama for 2012.

I'm interested in Ron Paul because of his character and policies. Though however, I haven't really seen much wrong with Barack Obama and with you Laugh, I don't really like either of Gringrich or Romney.

To me, Ron Paul is like - if this guy wins, something seriously will change in the U.S. and my money is on it coming out of my own wallet, just like any other President.

Anyways, At least have a somewhat pronounceable name when they go into office. There's no way in hell I'm going to even bother saying "President Newt Gringrich" or "President Mitt Romney". To me, those aren't really respectable names; but rather silly stupid nicknames. (Btw, Gringrich shouldn't even bother imho, personally - his marriage issues? Uh, not that I'm picking on Bill Clinton, but I'd rather the news not be full of stupid stories about him hitting on [insert Name of Now Popular Female].)

Definitely with Koby on this one, I'd vote for Obama for another term just to keep all the others out.

I guess at this point and time I'm going to have to give my vote to Ron Paul. I'm fairly sure he won't make it to the general election, but I really do think the country needs a politician that actually lets the people know where he stands. Come general election time I'm sure I'll have no choice but to vote for Obama, but I'm afraid if he wins another election we'll see huge changes to the internet. I'm also afraid of what other rights he may decide to step on by abusing his powers to take actions without going through congressional approval first. I do have to give him some credit, because I did like how he handled Libya and Bin Laden even though Libya wasn't approved by congress either.

Currently, I'm struggling to choose between Paul and Santorum. I love Paul's libertarian stance, but his foreign policy is weak at best. Santorum would take a more proactive stance against radical Islam, but he is more authoritarian, and his religious views would interfere with his decision making.

My opinion of Santorum is beginning to become even worse then my opinion of Mitt and Newt. He really doesn't seem to understand that church and government are suppose to stay separate. His views of women's rights are archaic.

Even Ron Paul is starting to get on my nerves now. It would be nice if all politicians were as straight forward as he is, but his straight forwardness and stance against bills like SOPA and PIPA are all he has going for him.

I think the rest of the world should take notice of what is happening in this nation, because this is how democracies fail.

must agree with drum on this one... the top seat in any political power is the epitomy of fucked. You cant do anything, be it a whizz, a beer or a damn sneeze in the streets, people watch. So these people normally are those that take "advantage". For context, despite the large statian population of the forum, Mr. David Cameron, Britain's PM, has done a lot of shit, too put it simply, shit in political quantities. But for the first time in years, he has stood up to france, germany and the eu... at least the first time since the iron lady...

Anyhoo, as an outsider, what I see best for me is Romney... he is the brit equivalent of a conservative, so he wonn't start shit (such as the whole megaupload fiasco) with everyone else... but then again, I only know what the news tells me...

I'll be voting for Obama if he'll continue to work on the things he promised the first time around. He's the only one of the candidates I've seen that has publicly admitted to struggling with some of the issues, both religiously and personally, and then shoving the religious view aside in favor of what he knew was right, even if he didn't like it as much as everyone else did.

I know what the republican party wants to stop doing, but I have no idea what they are going to try and achieve.

What they're trying to achieve is a one term presidency for Barack Obama. They pretty much got all the crap bills they wanted when Bush was in office. Now they're just trying to keep Obama from destroying all their hard work. I do think, for the most part, Obama has done a good job; but I highly doubt he would veto sopa or pipa if they ever make it through congress. I also think he's a douche of a politician at the level that only Chicago can produce. Nobody loves Barrack Obama more than Barrack Obama does. I'm just hoping the gains we get from him being president doesn't come at the cost of a free internet.

I would also agree that the president doesn't have much say in what bills make it through congress, but he does have a say in what bills he passes. He also has a much louder voice as president than anyone else in Washington. Anytime he gives a major speech most of the major networks will cut programming to air it. John Boehner doesn't get that.

Obama is the worst president we have ever had, but Romney/Santorum/Gingrich are all the exact same as Obama, they're all big government socialists. Ron Paul is the only non-socialist in either of the two main parties, but Paul's foreign policy is naive and insane. I'm going to vote for Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party, but if Ron Paul does get the Republican nomination, then I will vote for him.

I know he sadly wont make it to the general election, lack of media coverage is a bit disturbing when the theocratic Santorum and Newt still get more coverage, but I'm sticking with Ron Paul. Republicans and Democrats are very much the same anymore in office, make a bunch of promises just to get elected and then cover their own hides and increase government control. I suppose I should be more upset at congress with its 11% or so approval rating (and tbh I am) and I know the President doesn't have all the power but I really cant trust any of these other candidates, Obama included, more than I could throw them. While Dr. Paul isn't perfect either I believe the pros outweigh the cons with him and while I don't completely agree with him I agree enough with the ideology of Libertarianism, which I would consider myself a more center (unaligned) libertarian, to give him the benefit of the doubt of my vote since he's the most honest of them.

If it comes down to Romney vs Obama, I think Romney is the lesser of two evils but neither one will get my vote. But if Santorum by some act of God wins the nomination then Obama is the lesser of two evils...by far. Also I believe Vermin Supreme should be on this list as well, if nothing more for comedy factor.
