I am a memebr of quite many forums, and to me, after seeing all the spammers, I felt disappointed and thought that I should join to help out and be a good member of the forum. I also joined because I was interested in anime ^^

The staff and members here are nice, and I was looking for a good anime forum, and here I found Kametsu!

I'd say that it is different in the sense that this Forum might host download links but it is more of a community Forum than a download one. Most Forums I've seen take care of the spammers, the staff is ok all to a certain extent. But like I said, the huge difference from Kametsu to other Forums is the community part.

I am not active on a lot of other forums, I found this place and decided to stay. I voted for all the choices, except "someone introduced me", because Kametsu is awesome like that. Being different is awesome and that is also how I try to live.

Keep it awesome.

kametsu is a community where both the staff and the experienced, long term members have a lot of time for the new ones. In the past, the community feeling was firmly based on the chatbox. However, recently, we have seen an increase in forum posts and there are a lot of posters who don't even use the CB. I'd say that the rp, gfx and lit sections are very popular overall, which takes away the 'download forum' feel. plus, the discussion sections are busy too. what Im trying to say is that unlike other forums, our download section is just one part of many in the forum, and it is not the central feature. this makes kametsu a very fun and enjoyable place, almost like an anime social network rather than a downloads site.

I came for the downloads but stayed for the people...

Seriously, as much as that is a riff on an old ad slogan it is also a fair description of the truth of the matter. I over time started to read posts in various forums that interested me while I had downloads running, got a sense of the main personalities involved and over time started to join in with my tomes. I like this site for the Eng dub downloads because of my wife's needs, but I keep an open tab here whenever I am online because I like to check on various conversations and goings on with various regular users here. This really is more of a community feel than I have come to expect from anime download sites, and it is one I cherish. I really had this driven home the other month when Kametsu went down without warning and disappeared until Koby was able to get the notice up about what had happened (I am not talking about the bandwith shutdown, there I knew what was going on right away, but the time before), I felt like one of my friends had disappeared, not a sensation I am used to associating with websites.

I like this place, the people here, and the fact that it is a diverse community, that is what makes this place different to me, and a place worth my time and energy (of which I have not the most due to poor health). I hope that answers the question sufficiently.

As someone who's been a member of this forum for ages (a bit further back than the join date on my profile indicates), what brings me back constantly is just the community. It's been a different group of people every time I come back, and I do admit that I miss the community of yore, but it's almost always been a fairly close, open community around here. It's always easy for members to hop in as a newbie without feeling singled out and mods always try their hardest to be polite to even the most troublesome of members, which is far nicer than some of the other fora I frequent.

I was searching for anime and came across English Dub Kingdom. I looked through it and liked it then clicked on the forum button and it sent me here. I read the rules carefully and liked what I read and joined. I was shy at first because I was new to forums and didn't know they worked, but everyone was very helpful. Now I feel like a pro. I have been on other forums and now I have deleted those accounts. So I am here to stay. To all the staff keep up the GREAT work and long live Kametsu.

3, 4, 5. I joined like, a year ago I think, actually; I might've joined a little earlier than that. I don't remember. I was just looking for a anime/video gaming forum - bam, ended up here in one google search. It's amazing how much traffic we get for downloads by itself compared to the relatively "small" (in my opinion) *regular* user base.

Off the top of my head, I could name about 20-30 users that I see here on a weekly basis, compared to the hundreds of randoms that have the 5-10 posts required to access downloads.

I don't know why I keep coming back since oftentimes the discussions that I engage in are lacking; i.e.

Dear god. Look at some of the lengthier posts, compare them to the shorter ones. It takes you maybe 20 seconds tops to read through others, and then mine, and a few others have at least 30-60 second posts, that took us a little longer than a 3 minutes to probably think and type. I came here for those 3+ minute posts/30 second reads.

Kasoivc, I know what you mean. I expressed the opinion that sometimes I feel completely ignored when I post in threads like that, where people can just throw their opinions up and never return to the discussion. Direct responses to people just seem so rare when it's so much easier to say "MW3 sucks".

It's an unfortunate reality, since a lot of those abandoned posts are from people who are just looking to get their fifteen posts to get to the downloads. It cheapens the community feel a bit to see all of this... bloat, I want to say.

Yeah, I guess bloat would be the right way to describe it. It's just so annoying in my opinion. Do people not get into their opinions anymore? If I post about liking/disliking a game or an anime series, I state the reasons why I do/do not like it. At least I have material that can possibly "provoke" someone else into engaging conversation, but people these days don't really understand the concept of a "forum" or "discussion."

I'm really glad for having found this website coz it's the first time that I stay this long in a forum XD

Usually I get bored by the 'ambience' but here's always animated and there're great people ! There're also always good discussions to talk about... Long life to Kametsu XD

PS : it's also a good way to practice my English ^^'

okay can I first say that I love your profile picture?! I am a huge fan of the Hunger Games. Okay I guess enough about that. This post isn't about that haha. Anyway, I joined at first because I wanted to use the downloads. The day I joined, however, I spent hours just looking through all of the posts and it all seemed really great. The people were really nice too. I was new to anime (still am I guess), and to forums and I didn't really know what to say. I felt that, because of this and the fact that I was new, I would be shunned or treated like an idiot, but I wasn't. There are some awesome conversations here. Lately, I've been extremely busy with school and work, and I regret that I haven't been on here in months, but I'm glad I'm finally able to find time to get on again.
