Shinato
I personally use VLC player. It works with .avi .flv and .mkv files. It's simple to get and use too with no fuss at all.
lemmingllama
Im sorry, but VLC has lots of problems. The easiest and best one is Windows Media Player Classic- Home Cinema. If you install a codec pack like K-Light or CCCP, it will automatically install this since its the best out there. Also with the codec packs, you can play virtually anything
Alegend1994
As lemming said Media Player Classic - Home Cinema is the best one that I have ever used, here is the link I used to download it:CCCP (Media Player Classic - Home Cinema)Also here are some screenshots of me using it:You can easily choose the audio to play, if it is dual-audio or higher.Easily able to choose which subtitles to use, if the video file contains them. Can give you a ton of information on the video file being played. Here is a preview of a 1080p anime film being played with subtitles enabled, my laptop screen isn't HD enabled but I think this looks pretty good anyway. Also it plays .mkv & .ogm files with ease. ZeroPenguins
I got an even better one, MPC-HC + madVR it's MAD!! That is assuming your PC can handle it, it works a lot better than CCCP or K-lite but uses a lot of CPU power. Those two combination is the best for viewing HD or any upscales from DVD to HD. Here's a good setup guide http://coalgirls.wakku.to/?page_id=4611 check it out peoples!

Koby
I personally use VLC player. It works with .avi .flv and .mkv files. It's simple to get and use too with no fuss at all.VLC doesn't even render in HD. It downscales it to SD then upscales it back for smoother playback on shit machines. The 64-bit version is incompatible with madVR and will not function at all.Assuming you've got a 64bit computer, does this affect anything or it doesn't make a difference if you use the 32bit version on a 64bit computer. ZeroPenguins
Lol you don't need 64bit since most plugins don't support it and besides 32bit software runs fine on a 64bit. It just means that madVR won't work on 64bit MPC-HC since it doesn't support 64bit. So don't install 64bit of MPC-HC, there isn't a need for 64bit. I was just playing a 10bit 1080p video and my cpu usage was 100% but I think it's cause I have multiple browsers open as well as a download manager and several other programs. ZeroPenguins
Lol it does, but it depends on your system I got an i7 920 so this kind of stuff it is no problem. So noticed any quality difference?

So noticed any quality difference?Yeah there is slight difference, but you won't notice it unless you take screen shots, other than that it plays fine on my AMD Turion II P560 Dual-Core Processor. It might not be the best but it gets the job done.

I've been using it for 2-3 Years and i havent had a single problem... i take that back, when i added fonts to my computer that screwed things up but a upgrade and all was fixed. I use it mainly for viewing video on my tv... via SVGA - to - SVGA port on tv.

I might post screen shots when I can. And don't worry about dual core, many people still use it, it gets the job done pretty well.
Reptoholic
I wouldn't get Koby Started on VLC If I were you lol. In short, compared to other players, VLC is pretty crappy.

Then I tried Classic Player with CCCP, the picture was great but the video was lagging for some reason and my computer wasn't running at full usage. So I will give this one a go.
